Bio

Ton-Taun is an alternative rock band from Lancaster, PA, that consists of four core members: Jordan Capizzi, Doug Hynes, Mario Borgatta, and Louis Borgatta. Each member of the band has a deep love and appreciation for music, and all have found personal success in studying and writing music. The band has also recently begun producing and engineering their own original material.
Ton-Taun has recently released their debut album, Circus Court, independently. The album contains eleven original songs and was recorded and engineered at After Seven Studios in Mechanicsburg, PA, by Jason Schaffer. The members of Ton-Taun have also begun writing and recording their second album in bassist Mario Borgatta’s home studio. In making their music, Ton-Taun strives to create something that is both immediately familiar, but subtly complex. Each song that Ton-Taun writes is rooted in traditional folk and rock music, but is made richer by intricate arrangements, interesting guitar hooks, and lush vocal harmonies. Although Ton-Taun’s sound is most clearly influenced by modern rock bands like Wilco or Modest Mouse, it is apparent through their use of complicated drum beats and bass lines that jazz composers such as Charles Mingus and Miles Davis have also informed the bands arrangements and performances.
Jordan Capizzi, age 20, is the primary singer and lyricist for Ton-Taun. Capizzi has had some local success with his previous band, Share the Bread, who, from 2006-2009, played regularly in the Lancaster and Reading areas, and have been featured in several local newspapers for their musical accomplishments and performances in community events. Jordan is also a student of English at Temple University.
Doug Hynes, 19, is Ton-Taun’s lead guitarist. He is a student at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, and is currently enrolled in a very competitive Arts Management program. Doug contributes not only guitar to Ton-Taun’s sound, but also keyboards, percussion, and banjo. Doug’s knowledge of guitar effects and electronics plays a key role in Ton Taun’s live performances.
Ton-Taun’s bass player is Mario Borgatta. He is 19-years-old and is a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. His main areas of study are arranging, recording, and engineering. Over the past year alone, Mario has played with several musical groups on the road and in studio, including California up-and-comers Colour and Boston’s Elephant Sky. Borgatta is also the founder of Berklee Dorm Room Records, a project that strives to bring musicians together for a collaborative writing and playing experience.
Louis Borgatta, 18, is the only member of Ton-Taun who is a high school student. Louis has been studying the drums for six years, and has been featured in several jazz and blues ensembles. Louis’s jazz band has been featured on the television show Brain Busters in a performance that Doug and Mario also took part in.
