Bio

Emmy Award winner/singer-songwriter Tonya Carmen started singing after losing a dance competition in high school. After graduating from Brooklyn College Music Conservatory, Tonya landed lead roles in productions of "Little Shop of Horrors", toured as a background vocalist in Debra Gibson's Out of the Blue World Tour and appeared in Debra's videos, including the HBO special "Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary" at Madison Square Garden. Tonya also toured internationally as a lead vocalist with The United Nations Chorus. She has appeared on two of Rosie O'Donnell's cruises, and was part of the Emmy Award winning cast of "None for the Road", an ABC TV Special. In theatrical music Tonya has worked with Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Elliot Goldenthal and Academy Award nominated Julie Taymor on the critically acclaimed "Juan Darien: A Carnaval Mass." Tonya Carmen's multilingual talents are displayed on the Latin CD "Pa'l Bailador" on which all her lead vocals are entirely in Spanish. Tonya Carmen's new solo CD entitled "Rubies & Sapphires" highlights her delectable lyrics and sweet, irresistable melodies. Look for Tonya Carmen's highly anticipated CD in the Spring of 2010.
