Tony Brown

Born in suburban Minneapolis in the late 80s, I grew up in a music-central household. My father is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and is a renowned jazz piano player. My parents instilled in me at a young age a love and passion for all things musical. My first musical memories are of the Frank Zappa records that my dad would play around the house. I picked up the guitar at age 14 and began writing songs soon after. Jazz has always had a strong influence on me, but nothing captivates me like a the presence and power of a well-crafted song performed by its author. I count Dylan, Neil Young, and Leo Kottke as major influences, but am also influenced by more modern sogwriters like Ben Harper, Dave Matthews, and Mason Jennings. I have amassed a large body of original songs and am steadily adding to my repitiore. I am currently attending the University of Vermont and am excited to get my feet wet as a professional musician.
