Tony Cartel defines his sound as Sophisticated Trap Music. The definition of that term can be found in the delivery of his debut mixtape release “The Takeover. The mixtape cover is adorned by a snapshot of an original painting Cartel had commissioned by the infamous artist Charles Jean Pierre. Your ears are rewarded with tracks from the always satisfying Chicago super producer Tony Baines, and the release party was an all white private affair held in none other than the Waldorf Astoria's finest of suites. The Track list was shuffled by international DJ That's broadway, the food was catered, the hookahs were sweet and everyone smiled for the camera, held by Chicago's most acclaimed up and coming photographer Nick Hopkins. The rooms were filled with fans and the who's who of the Chicago music industry, who after being entertained and audibly satisfied rewarded Cartel with rave write-ups about what is to come.
