Bio

Tony Culture born in Trelawney, Jamaica, spent his early years in Kingston before arriving in the U.S. Tony Culture received his performance name from his positive lyrics, relating back to his Jamaican roots. He has worked with an elcectic group of artists, spanning Reggae, R & B, Hip Hop and Dub. He has been putting on energetic live performances for the past 25 years giving electrifying stage performances with groups such as "Joe Cooper Project", "Ska Rocks Band", "The Original Culture Sound", CultureRoots, Sound Daddy Axe to name a few. He has also worked with "The 602 Band", "D-Dread and the Zionknights" and A-Dub- Rock Band.

While Tony has mastered the art of ensemble performance, he has also shared the stage with well known artists such as Sister Carrol, Pato Banton, Super Cat, M.C. Lite, Kymani Marley, Junior Reid, Dan Carlos, Yellow Man, Everton Blender, H.R from Bad Brains, Half Pint and The Scattalites. By working closely with these artists, Tony has finely honed his skill at personalizing a performance and making the audience feel an intimate connection. In addition, he has developed a tight dancehall style inspired by his many years of experience gained by working with sound systems which include Culture Int., Daddy Ax and Emperor, Black Star and Black Harmony.

Tony has drawn deep inspiration from artists such as Dennis Brown, Luciano, Capleton, Beres Hammond, Barrington Levy, Michael Rose, Toots & The Maytals, Bob Marley & The Marley Family, Freddie Mcgregor, Studio One, Lauren Hill, The Refugees, Nas (Da Illmatic dayz), EPMD. Their influence has positively colored his music but Tony maintains his own highly individual sound.

Tony Culture chooses to lend his name to those artists that are determined to educate their listeners by raising their consciousness with positive vibes, expressed through their lyrics. These artists put a special focus on leaving out the profanity and not focusing their energy on the degradation of women and people in general. The spirit of these artists embraces Tony's own dedication to uplifting the hearts and minds of his listeners.

His current album is "CHANT" including the hit singles "Fresh Girls Dem"(2003) and "CHANT". The album incorporates fresh beats with a hip hop flavor. You can buy it online now by visiting iTunes, Amazon.com or CD Baby.
