Visa Entertainment and MySpace have announced Wellington-based singer/songwriter Tony Wilson as the winner of the second Visa Entertainment Muso Challenge Scholarship. Wilson's song, Summer Lust - Bottom of the Glass, was chosen by the MySpace community who voted on the songs submitted and earned him a NZ$5,000 scholarship to be put towards a music-related project.
"I'm going to use the funding to record an album - it's been a dream of mine since I was nine years old," Wilson said.

Synopsis
In February 2009 The song "Summer Crush - Bottom of the Glass" was judged best overall in the "Visa Muso Challenge" by a panel of judges including the Chairman of the New Zealand Independent Music Association.
Following this success Tony has recorded his Debut Solo album "Time in Space".
The album is a collation of imaginative song writing with contrast and dynamic.
It aims to send you to the outer regions of your imagination, through highs and lows, to space and back, on an escapade though familiar scenarios and explore the forces of chance.

TONY WILSON
Tony Wilson is an award winning Musician and Songwriter on the cusp of commercial success. Tony was bought up in a musical family in Wellington New Zealand where his Father, Don Wilson (known for his 1976 hit Big Norm) nurtured his creative talent. From a young age Tony began to write, record and perform on a regular basis with bands Miss Conduct, Civilian Down! and later his solo career.
Tony Wilson draws inspiration from such artists as Jeff Buckley, Dave Mathews, Death Cab for Cutie and John Mayer. Tonys songwriting focuses on experiences, places and events and is written with an ornate sense of imagery.

Following this success Tony has recorded his Debut Solo album "Time in Space". The album is a collation of 11 songs written throughout the past few years. It is full of contrasts and metaphors and covers a diverse range of styles and feels whilst keeping the singer\songwriter dynamic. With the help of a talented team of session musicians and a string quartet Tony has bought these songs to life with a full, studio quality sound.
Tony is a passionate, dedicated musician and is constantly writing and recording new material. Tony can be seem performing regularly, either solo acoustic, with a full 4 piece band or a variety of different line-ups and musicians. He frequently plays at San Francisco Bath House - Acoustic Lounge and is an active performer with the Victoria University Music and Artists Social Club.
