The best kept secret in music

"What People Have Said"

“Very few singers sing with soul anymore. Topher has that intensity. There’s a beautiful sadness about his music. You know he means it. That’s rare.” - Tommy Shannon (Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble, Arc Angels, Johnny Winters)

“Williams’ voice has a special kind of soulfulness that recalls Grant Lee Buffalo with a touch of Goo Goo Dolls’ John Rzeznik. With an epic, dramatic production this artist makes music that is consistently compelling. His overall sound and vision is commercially appealing and would do wonders for a film or movie soundtrack.”
- Music Connection Magazine (Los Angeles, CA)

“Great voice. There’s definitely a lot of talent here. Five Miles is priceless. I knew that was the single after the first 5 seconds.”
- M.J. Mendell (Booking Agent – One World Theater, Austin, TX)

“I thought the record was amazing so I booked ‘em. But then I saw the live show. Insane. He means every word he says. Everyone was silent. In awe. With this look on their face of like, where did this guy come from?”
- Brad Davis (Notice Productions - Austin, Texas)

"Rustic Emulsion LP Press Release"

Top Step Publishing Press Release - Austin, TX, August 27, 2006 - Texas singer/songwriter Topher Williams, with his unique lyrics and soulful voice, officially releases his debut CD, Rustic Emulsion.

Rustic Emulsion is an incredible collection of powerful lyrics and unforgettable melodies filled with honesty, insight, and emotion. Songs include, Five Miles, Wake Up, Charlie Monroe, and Coming Home. As a bonus, the debut album includes a second disc containing many tracks from Topher's past studio recordings that never made it to CD. From over a span of 5 years, these tracks include songs like, Fireflies, Beautiful Horses, and Ocean Eyes.

Rustic Emulsion was recorded in both Austin and Los Angeles as a collaboration with life-long friend and music producer, Mark Hill. Mark is best known for his work with the band, I Am August, under Sikada Records, and his long career in film scoring, performing, and sound work with amazing film directors, including Austin's own Robert Rodriguez.

Tracking for the record began in Mark's Austin studio and then moved to his new studio in L.A. soon after where the rest of the instrumentation and mixing was completed. The final product was a stunning new sound which has now coined the phrase, "Cinematic Singer/Songwriter". Each song evokes emotion and acts a perfect soundtrack to anyone’s life, making the music just right for both film and TV.

The most important detail about Topher's songs is that they bleed with authenticity. From the hauntingly beautiful melody of "Five Miles" to the brutally honest message in "Wake Up", Topher reveals the truth as he sees it, or lived it, holding nothing back. The album in the end is a composition of stories inviting listeners on an odyssey across life's canvas - not only through Topher's eyes, but through their own as well.

Currently Topher is scheduling more shows to follow up his past successful performances in Austin and Los Angeles where he played at the infamous Roxy Theater. In addition, Topher has released a music video on his Web site for his most popular song, Five Miles, which was shot on location in Malibu, CA during his last trip to LA.

Rustic Emulsion is now available through his Web site at and on iTunes. And for a limited time, fans can download the new track, Dashboard, which was recorded recently in Santa Monica, CA and not available on the album, on Topher's MySpace page (
