Bio

Tosha Anton Peisakhov- Cello,Vocal

I was born on 08/29/1974 in Klin, near Moscow.
My parents worked in the Tchaikovsky Museum and after at the School of the Arts
where my older brother already studied violin.
My father was a choir director and played domra (Russian mandolin);
My mother taught piano and music theory.

Since my childhood I was surrounded by music.
As a six year old I've heard in a concert at the School of Music for the first time a cello.
I was charmed and  fascinated by the sound of this instrument.
My first teacher was Valeriy Ginzburg.
He introduced me into the world of music, literature and life in general and showed to me
Perspectives, which at this time for the general population of the Soviet Union
were hardly accessible.
I was listening not only the music of Mozart, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky but also Pink Floyd,
Pat Metheny and John McLaughlin with the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
So i started to play guitar.
Quite often I was sitting at the window, rattled funny chords on the guitar
and dreamed of a world in the distance I might see one day.
When I was fifteen, I left my home town and moved to Moscow, where I continued my studies at the Tchaikovsky Music College and at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Professor Natalia Schahovskaya.

After Conservatory degree in 1998, I moved to Tel Aviv / Israel, where I, was playing as cellist in the
Israel Philharmonic Orchestra  under the direction of Zubin Mehta .

As a solo cellist in the Philharmonic of the Nations, led by Justus Frantz I traveled in the period from 2000 to 2002,  many countries, among them China, Japan,Cambodia.
From 2002 I worked as the assistant of principal cello at the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen(NRW orchestra) in Germany.
In 2008 I left the orchestra ,
traveled to India for several months and, after my return to Germany with
newly formed ensemble TOSHA recorded the first CD "whatever" with my own compositions.

Currently I am working in projects with the Cologne Jazz pianist Marcel Tusch "Marcel  Tusch Quartet
and the legendary Dutch keyboardist Jasper Van't Hoff CD recordings with "Pili Pili"

SYLVIA KIRCHHERR - vocal

I was singing my whole life.
Since I was a little little girl I loved to express myself by singing, especially improvising and creating my very own sound.
At the age of 4 my grandfather taught me how to "yodel" and how to play with this special way of folk singing from the alps.
I always new I am a singer,
but these days there was no way of being taught the way I felt it should be.
So I started to find my own:
By travelling, living and singing in different cultures, especially in Mexico where I spent almost 5 years of my life.
By listening to the sounds outside, in the nature, in various cities of this world and especially listening to the sound, waving naturally out of myself, I started to compose and improvise my very own music.
Most of my songs talk in a language that comes out of myself, that is familiar to myself and everybody who is listening with the heart could understand.
Three solo albums and two cooperations are created that way.

Since the days of the little girl my dreams became true:
I am travelling a lot,
singing my own and mexican folk songs and "yodelling-bavarian-one´s" in many places, concerts and festivals, as well performing as a busker whenever possible.
On these journeys I really love to create powerful music with other musicians and many different instruments.
And so working and improvising with these guys was a very special project in my life.
Very familiar, personal and beautiful.

I love to play and to move people inside in the same way and I feel blessed to be able to live by my passion.
