"The Week in Your Ear"

"For many of us, Wednesdays are about survival. The week is halfway through and it’s time to try something new and relaxing to take your mind off of the rest of it. If you’re into Andrew Bird and a strolling drum beat, you might choose tracks by Total Babe. Of course, listening to Total Babe in transit would require you to bust out the walkman, as their first release (in March) will be a chunky cassette tape called Heatwave!, made with the help of Room Tapes (myspace.com/roomtapes). I guess Wednesdays are also for nostalgia." - Wake Magazine

"Band Spotlight"

"The Breakfast Club LOVES this new local band. And no, it is not just because they are all incredibly nice.

Total Babe's sound is one of both youthful innocence and sophisticated low-fi sensibility. Still in high school, this Minneapolis three-piece blow audiences away with their organic and un-faked sound that screams sentimentality with it's prettily plucked strings, (Lizzie Carolan) and chanteuse-y vocals (Clara Salyer.)" - Radio K

Bio

Total Babe was formed in September of '08 as a folk project between friends. It began as a casual weekend encounter, but as songs and shows were quickly acquired and feedback was exciting, things started to pick up pace. So far they've been fortunate to play such great places as The Cedar Cultural Center, Kitty Cat Klub and The Turf Club, to name a few.

As 2009 kicked off Total Babe went into recording mode and are now about to make their first release with Minneapolis's own Room Tapes. "Heatwave" will be a fun collection of homemade recordings and demos, giving a warm, lo-fi look into TB.

On the contrast they are also nearing completion a very high-fi first EP. The EP is impressive collection of songs that truly shows off the versatility of each player. Digging deep into the roots of folk combined with a nice pop sensibility that everyone can enjoy.
