Bio

To Thee, Abilene is the stage name for New York based singer-songwriter Amy Silverman. Amy got her start writing songs at the age of 8, and has been hooked ever since. Her interest in music flourished while she attended Dr. Philips High School, a specialized music magnet school in Orlando, FL. Here is where Amy was introduced to jazz, dance, musical theater, music production, and music performance.

The music is genuine, down-to-earth singer-songwriter pop with influences of folk and soul. Most often, the music embodies the happiness and bright vibes of the Sunshine state where she grew up. However, Amy is a prolific songwriter is not afraid of tackling incredibly personal subject matter in her songs. She has the confidence to introduce her audience into songs with deep areas such as the death of her Grandmother in 2012.

To Thee, Abilene sprouted out of the NYU Music Business program in late 2012, when multi-intrumentalist Gabe Miller asked To Thee, Abilene to be featured on a Christmas compilation EP. The EP was released through Bandcamp to rave reviews amongst friends at NYU, and Amy was motivated to begin a project of her own. A few months later, the duo recorded and released a single called "How Will You Know," which is currently featured on To Thee, Abilene's Bandcamp.

After releasing the single, To Thee Abilene began to assemble a band to play her debut show. Pianist Mike Donovan was asked to come in and play keys, while vocalist Kokei Otosi was introduced to sing backup harmonies and Gabe Miller focused on percussion. Thus, the lineup was created and To Thee, Abilene played to an excited and enthusiastic crowd at the Bitter End on Bleecker St in New York in May of 2013.

Now To Thee, Abilene is poised to release a series of EPs over the next 12 months called "Chapters." The EPs will feature 3 songs, and will be released at the beginning of each season IE September 22nd as the beginning of Fall, December 21st as the first day of Winter etc. When all four seasonal "Chapters" have been released, To Thee, Abilene will compile the 9 songs onto an album, as well as include a few new songs to round out the record.
