"Rescuing the Music Scene"

To The Rescue rocked the stage with their unique blend of rock, indie and pop-punk during an Oct. 16 show at Mavericks.
The band members – which include Mark Chippa on vocals and guitar; Keith Charlebois on guitar and vocals; Scott Bassarab on Bass; and John Busby on drums – have an undeniable stage presence.
Rescue’s set was filled with a raw passion and energy that really riled up the crowd. After opening with fan favourite, ‘Everlasting Dawn’, the music had the audience on their feet, dancing and singing along throughout the rest of their show.
With the number of generic bands trying to make a name for themselves increasing, Rescue was a refreshing break from the widely copied, one-sided pop punk sound.
Chippa managed to save the show when the lead singer of the headlining band, Ten Second Epic, was too sick to appear on stage. Chippa sang a number of Epic’s singles, including a brand new release from their upcoming album.
To The Rescue put on an excellent show, giving the audience the quality of excitement expected from a high-energy rock group. With a combination of musical talent and catchy lyrics, To The Rescue is a band not to be missed.

"To The Rescue: Saving the Airwaves One Song at a Time"

In a musical landscape wrought with one hit wonders and diluted pop-rock acts, To The Rescue is the swift melodic kick in the ass needed to reignite the masses interest in driven, young rock acts. The bands sound is both increasingly diverse and genre-friendly, striding the lines of punk, rock, and alternative to create a dimensional sound that never strays from being identifiably To The Rescue.
Established in the summer of 2006, this band had its roots in camaraderie from the start; singer Mark Chippa spent 9 months sleeping on the floor of guitarist Keith Charlebois’ apartment when he picked up, quite literally, from his hometown and headed to Ottawa to start a band. Chippa and Charlebois, along with bassist Scott Bassarab and Russell Bode on drums, proceeded to lay down their initial album, spearheading the group into a whirlwind of shows and promotional gigs. In March of 2007, To The Rescue blew away the competition at the Algonquin College Battle of the Bands, and had their first single played on Ottawa’s LIVE 88.5 the very day after handing their album to the program director. The bands drive to succeed is palpable, as they simultaneously ensured that they focused their time on new tracks to keep their fans satisfied.
To The Rescue’s self-titled EP effort received much props and publicity, allowing the boys to tour locally to an ever-growing fan base. The 5 songs demonstrate a stylistically fluid sound that offers mass appeal, ranging from the slow, emotionally evocative ‘Princess in Purgatory’ to the pop-punk anthem ‘Everlasting Dawn’; this band can certainly tap into any alternative influenced demographic with the ease of seasoned rock veterans. Their new album, due out late February 2008, is sure to bring five more refreshingly innovative tracks to the table. Their first single, ‘This City’, is both catchy and raw at once; combining intriguing lyrics, driven guitars, and a damn catchy interlude to make for a rounded, listenable track sure to hit the airwaves with nothing short of a very positive response. It will be exciting to see how To The Rescue impacts the musical community with their upcoming release, and this listener thanks the band for being a saving grace for rock enthusiasts everywhere.

Bio

Ottawa based rock band To The Rescue have been together for 3 years now, and their chemistry is evident every time they hit the stage.

The band is 4 members deep (Mark Chippa- vox/guit, Keith Charlebois- guit/vox, Scott Bassarab- bass, Jon Busby- drums), and has been hard at work moulding and perfecting a sound which they lovingly refer to as "Energy Rock". Since their inception in late 2006, To The Rescue have shared the stage with some very well known Canadian artists, as well as some up and coming acts. Opening for GOB, Ill Scarlett, Mobile, USS, Ten Second Epic, The New Cities, The Johnstones and more. In June of 2009, the band was lucky enough to be chosen to participate in the national level COCA showcase, which was held in St. John`s, Newfoundland. An all-around amazing experience for the boys; being on Canada`s east coast (which is a treat in itself), meeting and interacting with some great local and national groups and performers, and sharing their music with all of the delegates representing just about every major Canadian University and College.

This past summer, To The Rescue married their music with moving pictures in their first stab at producing a music video. With help from Ottawa based company Hotcakes New Media, a video for their song "Are You Bulletproof?" was born. The band gained some valuable experience from this process and are looking forward to their next video project (watch for it this summer!).

Next on the plate for To The Rescue..? Back into the studio. The boys are really excited to lay down the 4 new tracks that will make up the new EP, their fifth in 3 years. Anticipated release date sometime in May, so keep your ears to the ground!

To The Rescue has always been devoted to making music that evokes emotion in just about any type of music fan. Their sound remains edgy and energetic, while still leaning on catchy and danceable.
