"Touraine on board with A&R Select"

Los Angeles, CA – LA’s premier A&R firm, A&R Select, can name R&B/soul artist Touraine as its latest addition. The performer and songwriter has enlisted the firm and its vast industry resources to take his career to new heights.
Crucial to this, of course, are the songs. Touraine is busy revising some of the songs from his independently released album, “Ingenuity.” One of the results of his endeavors is the new single version of “One Nation,” a tune that mingles contemporary production decisions, modern club-pop flavors and the rich roots of R&B and soul. Melodies that shine like the glimmer of neon yet which resonate with depth, succulent vocal work and masterful studio engineering – not to mention stellar songwriting … these are the staples of Touraine’s musical efforts.
The song is an ode to hope, an expression of Touraine’s desire to see a more united world. It’s about the drive to “unify this country, make it a stronger, better, cleaner and safer America by changing the attitudes of Americans,” he explains. “It’s perfect with 2008 being an election year!”
The song is typical of Touraine’s work with its thick bass, kick drum (what he calls the blood flow of the music) and its percussive pulse (the heart beat). Its distinctiveness comes via its inner layer keyboards and programmed sounds.
A childhood of heavy exposure to gospel culture brought him into the world of music. At 14, he began playing bass. During his college days – during which Touraine studied music composition – he expanded his instrumental repertoire, adding keyboards to his list of skills. While in school, he played in college bands, jazz ensembles and fronted local bands in the Cleveland area.
Eventually and inevitably, the urge to evolve crept in. “Realizing the need to take the music to the next level,” he explains, “the decision was made to move to Nashville and work at further developing his songwriting skills.”
He has dedicated years of his life to honing his craft and writing the kinds of songs he would “love to hear the world sing.”
Touraine’s remix and revision project is set to be completed by Fall 2008.
In 2007, Touraine kicked off a radio campaign with Backstage Entertainment through New Music Weekly. As a result, the song “Sending My love” jumped to the number 32 slot on the AC Hot 100. It remained in the chart for 16 weeks.
Following the release of the album, Touraine plans to tour and hit festival dates in support.
