"MUSIC! Not Mischief"

On Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., in the headquarters media gallery, the Toronto Police Service will announce its newest youth outreach initiative, "MUSIC! Not Mischief."

This initiative is led by 14 Division Constable Robert Tajti, in partnership with Dot On Shaft Guitars and the Toronto District School Board.

It is funded by ProAction Cops & Kids, a charitable organization that provides funding for TPS programs for youth at risk.

"MUSIC! Not Mischief" uses guitars and equipment supplied by Dot On Shaft, a Toronto−area−based guitar manufacturer, distributor and retailer, to engage students at Parkdale Collegiate Institute in an adventure in music.

Police mentors play music with students in a safe environment, where a pro−community message is fostered, with an anti−drug and anti−violence tone.

The goal is to have the best of MUSIC! Not Mischief's participants play in a stage show with a backing band of professional musicians. The musicians for the performance will be Cambridge−area recording artists "Tracenine."

It is an attempt to directly influence the youth of Toronto by emphasizing to the "leaders of tomorrow" that communities are made of strong, healthy individuals and that the best way to combat the cycle of drug addiction is to encourage youth to never start.

For more information about "MUSIC! Not Mischief", please contact Constable Robert Tajti at 416−808−1403.

"Tyler McGill Benefit"

Tyler (T-Lar) McGill Memorial Benefit Concert for "MUSIC! Not Mischief"

Broadcast time: 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday, February 4, 2009

14 Division
416.808.1403

On July 29th, 2007, 22 year old Tyler McGill, known to his friends as “T-Lar”, was repeatedly stabbed in the drive-thru of a Scarborough fast food restaurant. He succumbed to his injuries 5 days later in hospital. Tyler was a self taught guitar player and lover of music.

Seeking to make sense of Tyler’s senseless death, his family and friends led by his mother Carole McGill, will host the Tyler (T-Lar) McGill Memorial Benefit concert. Proceeds of this event will be made payable to ProAction Cops and Kids, a charity that funds police led, youth outreach programs for at risk kids (www.copsandkids.ca). ProAction is the funding partner of the MUSIC! Not Mischief program (www.musicnotmischief.com), which partners Toronto Police, Dot On Shaft Guitars (www.dotonshft.com) and Cambridge recording artists “Tracenine” (www.tracenine.com).

It is the wish of the McGill family to spread a message to both youth and parents of youth to “Stop The Senseless Acts of Random Violence”, in the hope that other families will not suffer the tragic loss that they have. Using Tyler’s love for the guitar and music, the Tyler (T-Lar) McGill Memorial Benefit has partnered with the team behind MUSIC! Not Mischief to use the universal medium of music to reach the widest possible audience.

Carole McGill will address the media in this regard at a press conference in the Press Gallery of Toronto Police Headquarters, 40 College St, Toronto on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009. Members of the MUSIC! Not Mischief team will also be in attendance in support of Carole and her message.

Dot On Shaft has donated new, electric guitars which will be autographed by leading Canadian rock stars and will be available to the public through a silent auction at the event. A number of musicians have also donated their efforts to the concert which will be headlined by Tracenine, the musicians who will also perform with Toronto students involved in MUSIC! Not Mischief at the program finale show in May.

"T9 in '09"

We at Armed Music Inc. wanted to let you know that we are working harder and risking BIGGER than we ever have before to ensure that 0-9 is the year of T-9! Here is a just taste of all that is to come:

In Mid-January we will be releasing our very first music video for “Ready to Roll”. The Video was filmed using green screen technology and is being produced by the very talented duo of Chad Archibald and Martin Buzora of Black Fawn Films ( www.blackfawnfilms.com ).

Trace Nine will be performing Industry Showcases in Los Angeles on Jan. 14th.

T9 scored an invite and will be attending the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show in Anaheim, California on January 15/16. This is the biggest show of its kind and is not open to the public. The band is currently endorsed by Dot on Shaft Guitars and is aiming to solidify deals with a few more interested manufacturers.

In the very near future you should expect to see the announcement of some June 2009 European Appearances for Trace Nine. We can't tell you the venue until after it has been officially announced by the organizers BUT we can tell you that contracts have been signed and we will be playing a country which is famous for its uhmmm… “Bikini Team”!

Alongside our friends at Dot on Shaft Guitars and the Toronto Police Service (14 th Precinct) T9 is proud to be a partner in the “MUSIC! Not Mischief” Programme. The grand finale concert is slated for early May 2009 and Trace Nine will be on-stage accompanying the participating Parkdale Collegiate students. To learn more about this groundbreaking initiative and our fellow program partners, please visit www.musicnotmischief.com

T9 has also confirmed a highly coveted time-slot at the 2 nd annual “North Rocks the Bay” Festival in North Bay, Ontario on the Civic Long Weekend in August. Further details about this appearance should be announced relatively early in the New Year!
In 2009 we will also be running a few really original promotions with some great prize opportunities! Be sure to join our growing database of recruits by sending an email to community@tracenine.com

So there you have it…proof that we at Armed Music Inc. are doing all that we can to make your favourite, hard-working, brutally honest, independent rock band TRACENINE a house hold name! Unfortunately we can't do it alone. You can HELP by spreading the word about T9 on myspace, facebook and through your address book. "Rock The Block"

On Saturday July 28th TRACENINE was invited to share the main stage with Hedley, Stabilo, Faber Drive and Live on Arrival as part of the 2nd Annual 91.5 The Beat FM “Rock The Block” Concert held at the Civic Square in downtown Kitchener, ONT.

The event was incredibly successful with over 16,000 in attendance throughout the day. TRACENINE took full advantage of the opportunity and delivered an hour long, mind-blowing set earning literally thousands of more fans than what they had when they walked on the stage initially. Following the set the band signed autographs and posed for pictures for close to 2 hours. At its peak there were 1,000 or so people lined up in front of the bands merch booth with (just purchased) CD’s, shirts and Posters in hand anxiously waiting for autographs and for the chance to meet the band in person. Needless to say TRACENINE was MORE than happy to oblige!

"T9/Dot On Shaft Endorsement"

On November 19, 2006 an endorsement agreement was reached between TRACENINE and Canada’s fast rising guitar maker, DOT ON SHAFT Guitars! TRACENINE is both honoured and extremely proud to be the first band that DOT ON SHAFT is endorsing and both parties are very excited about their new relationship.

"The choice couldn't have been easier," said Matt Rahn (TRACENINE’s front man). "The hard part was trying to narrow down which of the many available models we wanted to start endorsing! The guitars are beautiful and the quality is of a level that competes with any of the major brand names we've ever used. The attention to detail, the look, the sound and the feel of these guitars supersedes anything I've ever had in my arsenal!"

Founders Mike & Nat Carparelli, have driven DOT ON SHAFT Guitars to deliver top-notch customer service alongside high quality products. With an unbelievable price tag, in the past 10 months, DOT ON SHAFT has sold over 600 guitars worldwide, and has a growing list of endorsees, now adding TRACENINE.

When Mike was asked what it was about TRACENINE that encouraged him to put forth this offer, Mike says “demeanor, personality and professionalism…TRACENINE’s powerful songs and their strong, meaningful messages and charity work for Child Can organization”, which ties in well with the fact that DOT ON SHAFT is a part of the Guitars Not Guns Foundation (GNGF) in the US and DOT ON SHAFT is currently spearheading the formation of a Canadian Chapter of GNGF.

Plans of an Adrian C. Blaney signature model for TRACENINE’s lead guitarist! are already being discussed! Much to the delight of both parties, DOT ON SHAFT Guitars will be looking for feedback from TRACENINE on future and existing models and product lines.

"T9 / Thunderstruck Films"

July 2007 - For Immediate Release: T9 Strikes Deal with Thunderstruck Films

An agreement has been reached between TRACENINE and Thunderstruck Films that will see a handful of T9 songs placed in up and coming Thunderstruck Productions.

To get a taste of what this means, fans should feast their eyes and ears on the trailer recently posted by Thunderstruck Films for their upcoming feature film Thunderstruck 6.
http://www.bigskyx.com/ts6_teaser.html

In short, Producer Jim Phelan picks 100 songs per DVD title and then they are voted down to the 20 final songs by fans. “Ready to Roll” by TRACENINE was picked as the intro song by a WIDE margin in voting and as such will be selected as the lead-off track for the TS6 trailer and for the movie which comes out August 2007. As part of the agreement T9 will be provided with copies of the movie for which to sell and in addition to that Thunderstruck will also be producing and giving away over 12,000 copies of the films soundtrack to their fans. Both parties couldn’t be happier as everyone involved stands to gain much exposure through cross-promotion.

About Thunderstruck Productions…
• They have been making films for 11 years.
• Thunderstruck 6 is their 9th major release.
• They have proudly been working closely with bands like T9 since the beginning.

"NEW BATTLE BEGINS"

Cambridge's TRACENINE takes home BIG prize and prepares for some serious studio work.

In the World of Indie Rock $10,000 goes a long way. At least that's what Cambridge based rockers Tracenine are counting on after they walked away with the big prize in the Paragon Band Battle at the Operator House in Toronto on Aug. 8

The competition put on by independent music promoters Paragon attracted approximately 100 bands from around Ontario, but what made Tracenine's victory even sweeter was that they were the only non-Toronto area band in the final round. "We were a little bit worried, not being from Toronto, but the judging was quite fair" says singer/guitarist Matt Rahn. "They were some heavy duty industry types and they wanted to see originality, musicianship, presence and crowd reaction, so I guess we had all those things going for us that night. It probably helped, too, that we brought two busloads of our friends and supporters down with us". Since their formation a few years ago, Tracenine has built a reputation for intense melodic hard rock through live shows, their self-titled full length album and the Eye for An Eye EP, but with studio time included as part of their prize, Rahn says the band is looking forward to trying some new things with their next release. "The timing for this couldn't have worked out better because we've got a lot of material we want to record right now and we don't have a ton of money to do it right" he explains. "We're going to be trying out a lot of these songs at the shows we've got coming up and then we'll pick the ones that go over the best with the audiences. We don't want to rush these new songs because we're all really excited about them."
Rahn says that while Tracenine's original intensity is being maintained with the new material, he describes it as being more crafted. "We're still heavy, but I'd say we've become better musicians since we did our first recordings. If I got up and screamed like some of these other singers, I wouldn't have a voice. I don't know how they do it. We like to combine everything from the groove to strong melodies, along with being heavy. Our past recordings aren't really a good representation of what we sound like now.
You can catch Tracenine at Fiddler's Green in Cambridge next Thursday then again on Sept. 27 when they're there to open for Helix.
As well, be aware that they are also planning to continue their Halloween Tradition with a gig at Cambridge's Jacob Hespeler Hall and that they have new merchandise at their website www.tracenine.com

Bio

Trace; a surviving mark, sign, or evidence of the former existence, influence, or action of some agent or event; Origins of the band's first existence were in 1999, it all seemed right. Later on when naming the company "Armed Music Inc" more connections came to light that solidified the feeling on the fateful rightness of the name. Tracers are special bullets that are modified to accept a small pyrotechnic charge in their base. Ignited upon firing, the composition burns very brightly, making the projectile visible to the naked eye. This enables the shooter to follow the bullet trajectory relative to the target in order to make corrections to his aim. The ninth round in a machine gun belt is commonly utilized for the tracer bullet. This is TRACENINE

TraceNine Biography

By fusing real world events with captivating melody and justifiable anger, T9 go straight for the throat and detonate an unparalleled sound with mass appeal. They’ve scored nominations for best live and metal band, won $10,000 as Paragon Band Battle Champions, showcased at Sweden Rock Fest, Canadian Music Week and were Rock Search finalists in the same competition that helped launch the career of Finger Eleven. Renowned for delivering powerful live performances on the International Stage, T9 has entertained countless sold out crowds in support of bands like Hedley, State Of Shock, Matthew Good, Nazareth, Social Code, Bif Naked, The Salads, Faber Drive and Meredith Brooks.

TraceNine has experienced first hand the multiple levels of corruption which exist in the industry today. The last big heartbreak came as recent as January 2008 when a recording agreement with an independent label out of LA, worth over $1.2 million dollars, turned out to be fraudulent. After many broken promises and missed deadlines the band licked their wounds and set fire to the contract. Not ones to dwell on the negative, T9 took fate into their own hands and created a label, publishing and management company called Armed Music Inc. in silent partnership with a handful of trustworthy industry reps.

The members of TraceNine share a sincere passion for life, music and justice. From day one they made a pact to check their ego’s at the door and focus on what was best for the band. The end result is an extraordinary synergy which cannot be denied.
