Concert Review
Traci Mnich CD Concert Unleashes Majestic Thunder
By Daniel K. Kehoe
November 6, 2005
WEST SPRINGFIELD, MASS.—
The audience at Traci Mnich’s
“At Last” CD release concert
never heard the line of storms
passing outside until host and
newscaster Dave Madsen from
abc40 mentioned it. There
was simply too much thunderous
applause resounding inside
the Majestic Theater for them
to be concerned as Traci and
her guest vocalists entertained
a full house teeming with 250
happy people.
From the moment she walked
on stage, every eye and ear
was locked on the touching
expressions and soulful voice
that define Traci’s down home
style. After a grand opening
with the kids from the Dan
Kane Summer Talent Enrichment
Program, Traci captured
the audience’s heart with a
moving rendition of “A Nightingale
Sang in Berkeley Square.”
It readily established this
sixteen-year-old as a vocalist
of substantial musical breadth
who doesn’t need more lessons
as much as she needs more
recording studio time. When
joined by up-and-coming star
Sam Plotkin, the mood went
from moving to rockin’ with
“Mockingbird.” And who could
have guessed that Patsy
Cline’s “Crazy” could ever be
improved upon, but Traci’s
duet with the talented Noah Lis
showcased this Suffield farm
girl’s country roots in a way
that would have made Cline
jealous.
“Why Do Fools Fall in Love”
was an upbeat and lively
choice to show off Traci’s
playful side. But it was her
blockbuster duet with
Meghann Fahy singing “Tell
Him” that dispatched the
audience to the lobby at
intermission to flock around
the CD table with fistfuls of
dollars.
With the pressure off and a
terrific first half destined for
her scrapbook, Traci loosened
up but never lost the audience’s
rapt attention. She
again featured the Summer
Program chorus, her vocalist
friends and most of the audience
with the “Shoop Shoop
Song (It’s In His Kiss).” Even
the musicians had a blast,
later treating the appreciative
crowd to their snazzy rendition
of “A Train.” After each
instrumental solo, it was

Concert Review: Traci Mnich
cemented into the audience’s
mind that these musicians
under the direction of Dan
Kane himself are a bunch of
pros who really enjoy what
they do.
Guitarist Bobby Ferrier’s sultry
backup on “Love Me Tender”
and “Killing Me Softly” allowed
Traci to move every heart to
an emotional peak. Ferrier is
characteristic of the quality of
the Dan Kane Singers band,
proving that Traci and her
guest vocalists’ involvement
with the Singers is one of
those life decisions they will
never regret.
A special treat both in its close
harmony and originality was
“He Don’t Know He’s in Love”
featuring Traci, Sam, Meghann
and Noah. Accompanying on
piano was Janet Ryan, Traci’s
vocal coach and the song’s
composer. This song is a real
favorite among Traci’s high
school contemporaries.
The closing number, “At Last,”
had to be the evening’s
highlight. It was apropos of
the whole performance and its
headlining on the CD. Traci
has a profound way of touching
her audience—who are now
all devoted fans—and at last
she’s had her chance to reach
out to them in a big way, with
a whole lot of lightning and
thunder of her own.

Bio

Traci's musical journey began at the very young age of three and has lead to her performing the national anthem for local sporting events, singing in talent shows and charity events, and in the eighth grade, recording a CD single “You Rescued Me”, composed by Daniel Kehoe. The past year has been a whirlwind for this enthusiastic teenager, who performed two sold-out concerts at the Majestic Theater in West Springfield, MA, for the release of her debut album “At Last”. In December she sang before a crowd of 5300 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA, as a featured soloist of the Dan Kane Singers during their 29th Annual Christmas Spectacular. Following in the foot-steps of her mentor, Dan Kane, Traci has donated the proceeds from many of her concerts to people in need, and to the Council for the Promotion of the Arts in her home town.
In 2006 Traci met Jason Scott through her "At Last" album engineer, Jim Fogarty, at Zing Recording studios in Westfield, MA. Jason merged his song writing skills with Traci's rock/country singing style, while adding his own guitar expertise to the new demo songs as well, along with Jim Fogarty's mixing ear and piano and percussion talents. They enlisted some of their fellow musicians, and recruited Jeff Bennett to add the right touch of back-up vocals and harmony. Jason is head of his own New England renowned band "Exit 29", as well as having a couple of albums himself, including his new "Jason Scott - Welcome to My World".
