Biography

I am a songwriter of country, christian-country, and southern gospel music. All of the listed demos are currently available for publishing/recording, so contact me if you would like to place on hold for possible use. I know I am just one of many thousands of songwriters out there hoping to connect with some people through song, so I thank you that you would take the time to listen to my songs!
I am an Orlando, Florida native and moved to Tennessee in 2005. I have some very fond memories of growing up in Orlando. I was a child actor and model and had a great time working in theatre, television commercials, and print advertising. It is cool to know that I played a part in the history of some of the advertising in the early days of the booming Orlando area tourism business!
I give primary credit for my musical influence to:
The Holy Spirit, Randy Travis, Alabama, The Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood, The Gaither Vocal Band, Collin Raye, Garth Brooks, John Anderson, and Tracy Byrd.

When Life Gives You Lemons

Written By: Tracy Barfield

When Life Gives You Lemons

Verse:
You know that life won’t always go your way
But you gotta make the best out of every day,
If everything goes wrong with the plans you’ve made
When life gives you lemons, just make lemonade.

Chorus:
When life gives you lemons,
I say when life gives you lemons,
When life gives you lemons it’ll be okay,
When life gives you lemons, just make lemonade.

Verse:
Now they can be yellow or they can be pink
It doesn’t really matter what color you drink,
So take my advice and hear now what I say
When life gives you lemons, just make lemonade.

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
Oh, take that sour fruit and bitter seed,
And add a little sugar, to make that bitter sweet!

Verse:
You can gripe and moan, and you can complain
But they say the brightest sunshine is after the rain
So don’t just sit there go and find some shade
When life gives you lemons, just make lemonade.

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse:
Now you can give up or you can give in
The choice is up to you if you decide to win,
So give thanks to God for all that He has made
And when life gives you lemons, just make lemonade.

(Repeat Chorus)

When life gives you lemons it’ll be okay,
When life gives you lemons, just make lemonade.

How Do We Get There From Here

Written By: Tracy Barfield

How Do We Get There From Here?

Verse:
Baby lately we’ve been moving too slow,
I press the peddle but the fuel won’t flow,
I just can’t find a way to make us go,
How do we get there from here?

Verse:
They say the quickest way is a straight line,
But boy I know you’ve never been that kind,
It’s getting late, we’re running out of time,
How do we get there from here?

Chorus:
How do we, get there from here?
When life together is not too clear,
We need to move like we have no fear,
Now I don’t mean to blame you dear,
But how do we get there from here?
How do we get there from here?

Verse:
I try to move from point ‘A’ to ‘B,’
Just to find myself lost at ‘C,’
Babe, I’m talkin’ ‘bout you and me,
How do we get there from here?

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
I know that men can’t ask directions,
But this woman needs love and affection,
It’s high time that we make a connection,
How do we get there from here,
Oh, how do we get there from here?

Verse:
Are we ever gonna find our way,
And be together each and every day?
Tell me now, baby, what do you say,
How do we get there from here?

(Repeat Chorus)

Second Thoughts

Written By: Tracy Barfield

Second Thoughts

Verse:
I use to love this life of mine
I use to fit in all too fine,
But something happened along the way
I don’t know where I stand today.

Chorus:
Lord I’m having me second thoughts,
I’m not too sure about this life I’ve got.
What the heck is goin’ on ‘round here?
Maybe one day it’ll all come clear.
Tell me how much more must I take,
Before you bring me to the Pearly Gates
Lord I’m having me second thoughts,
I’m not too sure about this life I’ve got.

Verse:
Look at everyone on the tube,
They’re either killing or they’re in the nude.
I can’t bear to look no more,
It makes me wonder just what’s in store!

Verse:
You got your cable, FOX, and CNN,
Telling stories of some foolish sin,
They say that everybody wants to know,
I say there’s places where we shouldn’t go!

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse:
Maybe one day He’ll let me know,
Just what makes this world of ours go,
All this craziness that’s goin’ on,
Will still be goin’ after I’m gone!

(Repeat Chorus)

Lord I’m having me second thoughts,
I’m just not sure about this life I’ve got!

I Sing This Song For You

Written By: Tracy Barfield

I SING THIS SONG FOR YOU

Chorus1:
I sing this song for you,
I sing this song for you, O Lord,
I sing this song for you, Jesus,
I sing this song for you.

Verse:
I know that I’m not worthy
To stand in front of you,
Yet by your grace I’m delivered,
And you help me make it through.

You hung there on that cross
And shed your blood for me,
You bore the weight of all my sin,
Now in death there’s victory!

Chorus2:
So I live my life for you,
I live my life for you, O Lord,
I live my life for you, Jesus,
I live my life for you.

Verse:
You are the One and Only
Master of my life,
Save me from temptation,
And deliver me from strife.

I know you will return
And my spirit you will raise,
I’ll reign with you in righteousness,
And sing to you my praise!

(Repeat Chorus1)

If I Only Believe

Written By: Tracy Barfield

If I Only Believe

Verse:
Life is full of heartache
Disappointment, loss, and pain,
When it’s hard to see the sunshine
Because of all the rain.
Still there’s hope left for the faithful,
And love left to receive
There’s joy and goodness waiting
I believe!

Chorus:
If I only believe, if I can only try
I’ll one day find my wings and start to fly
If I can make my way, go through the night
I’ll soon be walking in the morning light
If I only believe, if I can only try.

Verse:
There are certain people
Who would try to end your dreams,
Who would rather walk in darkness
And avoid the light it seems.
But keep your candle burning
And love you will receive,
Yes, there’s joy and goodness waiting
I believe!

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
My life has never looked so clear to me.
And all my dreams are now reality.
I’m better than I’ve ever been before.
I’m reaching high and I’m about to soar!

(Repeat Chorus)

If I only believe, if I can only try.

Take Me Home

Written By: Tracy Barfield

Take Me Home

Chorus 1:
Take me home to place, where streets are paved in gold,
Take me home to a place, where I won’t grow old,
Take me home to a place, where there are no tears,
Take me home, take me home, Lord take me home!

Verse:
My Lord is preparing a place for me
And all who will believe,
That Jesus is the Son of God
And my soul he will receive.

He will take me to his special place
Where I will sing his praise
And worship the Mighty King of kings
Through all eternal days!

Chorus 2:
Take me home to a place, that you built for me
Take me home to a place, where the blind now see,
Take me home to a place, where there are no fears,
Take me home, take me home, Lord take me home!

Verse:
I am going to my Father’s house
When that trumpet blows,
There is a room there made for me,
My Lord has told me so.

My eyes are looking to the sky
Expecting soon to see,
Jesus Christ my Lord and God
Calling out to me!

(Repeat Chorus 1)

(Repeat Chorus 2)

Take me home, take me home, Lord take me home!
Take me home, take me home, Lord take me home!

You Better Watch Out

Written By: Tracy Barfield

You Better Watch Out

Verse:
I use to be anything but good
And I hung my head defeated more often than I should,
Now my old friends’ll think I’m strange
‘Cause that’s all about to change
Today Jesus Christ has called my name!

(Chorus)
You better watch out, a change is in store,
You better watch out, I’m not the man I was before,
Oh Glory hallelujah, I’m a fixin’ to shout
And tellin’ you brother ‘cause there ‘aint no doubt
You better watch out, you better watch out!

Verse:
The time has come for me to make amends
Gonna love all my neighbors, my family and my friends,
You know, they won’t see it comin’
My sudden burst of lovin’
And the new way of livin’ I intend!

(Repeat Chorus)

I’ll sing Him praises each and every day
I just don’t care what all my friends might say,
You see, His Word is good and true
So prayin’ is what I’ll do
And one day He’ll be calling their names too!

(Final Chorus)
They better watch out, a change is in store,
They better watch out, they won’t be the men they were,
Oh Glory hallelujah, I’m a fixin’ to shout
And tellin’ you brother ‘cause there ‘aint no doubt
They better watch out, they better watch out!

You better watch out, you better watch out!

I (Really) Need To Know Your Name

Written By: Tracy B. Barfield

I (Really) Need To Know Your Name

Verse:
There’s a girl I’ve been seeing around town
Wearin’ a smile and a white lace gown.
Last time I saw her and she came my way
This is all I could think to say:

Chorus:
I really, really, really need to know your name
The way you smile makes me go insane,
My heart starts thumpin’ and it skips a beat,
I can’t seem to stand on my own two feet!
I don’t want fortune and I don’t want fame,
But I really, really, really, need to know your name!

Verse:
Well she just smiled but she didn’t speak,
Then she took her little hand and she touched my cheek.
And as she giggled, then walked away
This is all I could think to say:

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse:
Now my friends poke fun and tell me I’m a mess
‘Cause I’m always out lookin’ for the white lace dress.
Next time I see her and she comes my way
You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll know what to say:

(Repeat Chorus)

I really, really, really, need to know your name!

He Gave It All

Written By: Tracy Barfield

He Gave It All

Verse:
My Daddy was a wood-working man
Carving out a living with his two bare hands,
And raising a family in the bright, hot Georgia sun.
Momma would have to cover up his plate
The food would get cold ‘cause he was usually late,
Said the day wasn’t over ‘till Daddy’s work was done.

Chorus:
He gave it all, and paid the price
So he could give us a better life,
He showed his love through sacrifice
Had found his strength in a loving wife,
He gave it all, and paid the price.

Verse:
Daddy was a proud American man
Serving his country in a foreign land,
Fighting in a war that they called Desert Storm.
It’s still so hard to relive that day
When the angels came down and took him away,
It was only seven years after I was born.

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
Now I know that he is in a better place!
And there will come another day, when I will see his face!

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse:
God’s only Son was a wood-working man
Healing the sick with his two bare hands,
Restoring sight to the blind so that they could see.
Nailed to a cross though he did no wrong
And laid in a tomb He didn’t stay there long,
He lives again to comfort you and me!

(Final Chorus)
He gave it all, and paid the price
So He could give us a better life,
He showed His Love through Sacrifice
And with the strength of Jesus Christ,
He gave it all, and paid the price.
He gave it all, he paid the price!
