As an ex-playwright-gone-rogue into the world of singer/songwriting, Tracy Thorne always has an interesting story to tell. What sets her apart from any other sweet-voiced musician is her knack for using the stories to connect with even the least likely of listeners. There is a vulnerability in her lyrics and an honesty to her performance that silently, effortlessly and humbly command the attention of a crowded room. Armed with her guitar and a mischievous smile, Tracy sings as if shes feeling the words for the first time:
I learned through playwriting that a character, story, performance and even a song should never be static, but always changing, learning, growing. I am drawn to that aha! moment where something is realized, gained or even lost, says Tracy.
Influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Fiona Apple, Teddy Thompson and Sara Bareilles, Tracys pop/country sound is edgy, yet feminine catchy yet refreshingly laced with unexpected twists and turns. It is in these contradictions that her music thrives. The words are headed towards a cliff, right to the edge, and then, a lyrical U-turn.
