"Behind the Velvet Curtain..... Jon Travis and the Train Electric"

Welcome to the Velvet Underground, down the rabbit hole and right on through to the other side.
Behind the velvet curtain- Travis takes out his hip flask, band members standing by.
A self-deprecating, modern Jesus in a leather jacket, Travis thrives on his often controversial narrative, enigmatic stage presence and truth-be-told lyrics that belie him.

Songs with titles like, My Lost Years, Every Inch of you, and How Can A Poor Man Stand Such Times and Live? and you know you’re in for a helluva ride.

The Train Electric first formed in January 2011 in Toronto, citing such heavyweights as Led Zeppelin, Dylan, Arcade Fire and Radiohead as their initial inspiration. Uniquely, every member of the band is also a stand-alone performer. Brendan Albert, the band’s main drummer,
triples as a consummate guitarist and a vocalist.
Jessica Speziale’s sweet soaring vocals provide a stark contrast
to Travis’ hick-billy, grunge style tunes. Alex Bien, bassist and pinch-hitter vocalist, provides the raw energy with that incredulous smile and obscure punk background -back when the scene had its hey- day.
(The Train operates as a songwriter collective, members playing as supporting acts in addition to performing with a full-fledged band.)

A mix of country, rock and good natured banter characterizes this night of surprises-but at the end of it all, there is something here buried in the psyche. Just like the ol’ Midwestern movie, that steam train has been ravaged by bandits and rolls on, a survivor of harder times.

Bio

Jon Travis & The Train Electric

2012 FACTOR Award recipient, Train Electric is an Roots-Rock band from Toronto, Ontario Canada. "The Train," as it's affectionately known by its fans, released their debut recordings in 2012. Fronted by Jon Travis Train, a songwriter dubbed a "dirt-road rock troubadour with a passion for poetics", Train Electric's music has drawn comparison to heavyweights such as Springsteen & The E Street Band, U2 and The Arcade Fire. The sound is a unique merging folk rock, hard rock, country rock and rock rock. Though there is an obvious philosophical thrust to Jon Travis’s songwriting, the key belief behind the band is to have fun and give the fans what they want. "We set out on this journey to write and record songs that MEANT something to people, songs that say something," says Travis. "...in that same way so many great artists of the past have written music that's become the sound-tracks of our own lives. In the process, we've begun a conversation with our fans, an ongoing dialogue that will continue throughout our lives--thru the good times and the bad."

In the short time since forming, JT & the band has played shows at notable venues around Toronto, including The Rivoli, The Mod Club and Lee's Palace, opening for The Unquiet Dead in March 2012. Members of the Train have played NXNE and CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK, including a Jon Travis Train solo acoustic set in 2010. The Train was selected to play CANADIAN INDIE MUSIC WEEK and put on a great show in Toronto.
"We try not to limit our scope or style," says JT. "We're as urban as we are country, and we're always striving for that balance between darkness and light. We're modern kids."

Jon Travis Train is set to release the follow-up to his debut EP "The Legend of Nowhere Train" with his new recordings in Autumn 2013 along with the upcoming re-launch of WWW.TRAINELECTRIC.COM scheduled for summer 2013.

"It’s a crazy time to be alive," Train says, "and we hit it dead-on, at that place where there is no holding back, and no stopping."
The Train wishes to thank all their fans for their on-going support!

Thanks so much for your interest! Woot! Woot!
