Bio

Trainwreck Rally formed in Athens, Georgia in 2005 as a band called Joker, when Daniel Binnie and Ted Lord met and began to collaborate, writing melodic hard rock, with a Classic and Southern rock influence. Soon afterwards, Mark Crowley joined the group, bringing with him an alternative rock sensibility. The group continued to write, recording three demos and performing in and around Athens for the next four years, with and without a vocalist, and its success culminated in its selection as one of the 15 national semifinalists in the Boru Vodka/RoadRunner Records/Musicians Friend ‘Defend the Bar Band’ Contest in 2007.
The band’s identity changed, along with the name, when John Strickland joined the group as the new singer, bringing in a grittier vocal quality and a sensibility more in line with modern hard rock. Old material took on new forms, and new material was written. After a lengthy period of recording, the band is currently about to release its first full-length CD, entitled ‘Eviction Notice’, in March and continues to play around the Southeast. Concert venues and dates, estimated album release date, and new music can be followed online at www.myspace.com/trainwreckrally.
