Bio

Beginning as a project for school, the band that would later become TRAINWRECK was formed when Matthew Davis convinced his friend and classmate Chris Burns to enroll in band class and learn to play the Bass Guitar. Chris quickly took to the Bass and before long, the two were performing at school functions and other gigs. They formed a band with a couple of other classmates named Bootleg and began performing locally. Around the time Bootleg began performing, a friend and acquaintance of the band named Elliot Prater returned from college and met up with and was impressed by the band. Having previously played guitar with Matthew Davis in the school band the year before, it was only natural that they would start jamming together again. He began sitting in with them at select shows and helping with the p.a. during their performances. A full band performance of Matthew Chris and Elliot took place under the name Uncensored at a show at UT Martin for a show at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house although it would be a while before they would reach a stable lineup. For a while Elliot and Chris joined another local band that became known as Full Circle that played the local music scene although they would continue to hang out and jam with Matthew. When the singer of Full Circle quit for personal reasons, Elliot immediately thought of Matthew to take his place. Despite tensions in the band, they pulled through for a special appearance at The Horseshoe Riverbend Festival in Clifton, Tn. Following personnel issues Full Circle fell apart, leaving Matthew Elliot and Chris going through a succession of drummers. Around this time one of Matthew's co-workers mentioned a drummer that she thought would be a good fit named Randy Riley. Randy would prove to be more than adept at handling the drums, with the other members soon considering him the missing component of the band. Elliot had recently moved and was surprised when Matthew told him about the drummer he had just met given the bad luck they had previously experienced. The following weekend Elliot joined the other three and jammed for the first time. It became immediately clear that the band had something special. They began performing in the area and quickly decided on the name TRAINWRECK. Wanting to break local trends of covers-only performances, TRAINWRECK began to write about their own thoughts and experiences, developing a sound that is both classic and modern sounding in a rock vein that reflects a band with nothing to lose and a lot to say.
