About Tranquil
Joseph Accardi graduated from St. Thomas of Villanova High school in 2003 with honors, as President of the student council. He was then accepted to the University of Toronto for computer science. Joseph started playing and performing music at the age of 10. He plays piano, saxophone, flute, trumpet, clarinets, guitar and he sings. Joseph has also performed in and directed a handful of musicals over the last couple years.

Bram Cayne has been playing drums and percussion since the age of 11. He has studied under many professional drummers, including Toronto greats Barry Romberg and Rick Lazar. He has also learned from such jazz artists as Mike Murley and Mark Eisenman. He is currently attending York University. Bram has performed in various jazz bands, rock bands and pit orchestras (including West Side Story and the Rocky Horror Show) which have helped mold his diverse drumming style.

Darren Ricci began his musical career at a young age by taking piano lessons through the Royal Conservatory of Music. At the age of 13 he bought his first bass guitar. Although he is primarily self-taught on the bass, Darren has taken some private lessons throughout the years, and continues to strive to be the best musician he can be by listening and learning from others. Darren has played bass in various groups and bands ranging from a wide genre of music including rock, alternative, progressive, funk, and jazz to name a few. Darren is currently working on finishing his Bachelor of Arts degree in the social science program at the University of Toronto.

Mark Brathwaite began studying classical piano at age six, under teachers certified by the Royal Conservatory of Music. He is a grade 10 certified RCM teacher in piano, harmony, counterpoint, and also teaching practical guitar techniques. He has played the Markham Jazz Festival, the Markham Hilton Suites Hotel, and Unionville Festival with his former Mark Brathwaite Trio. This foundation in classical music has allowed him to excel in other genres many guitarists have trouble crossing; namely jazz, blues, and rock. He joined Tranquil officially in June 2008.

We have a large pool of influences we pull from. The band plays a pop-rock acoustic style. I would say we sound like some of the pop acoustic rock of the 90's, but my band members might strangle me for saying that. We do put a heavy modern spin on that style.

Whisper In Your Ear

Written By: Joseph Accardi

Lay here awake with me,
Wont you help me count the sheep?
Painted on the ceiling,
Like clouds above the sea.
I know the answer,
But it's hard for me to share.
Since I don't know how we got here,
Or if we were ever really there.

So wait for the sun to rise,
to see if this is real
Wait for the moment,
Like a whisper in your ear.

Lay here awake with me,
won't you help me pass the time?
I know your eyes are heavy,
But believe me so are mine.
It's nearly morning,
and there's only one thing left to say.
But I'm afraid after I say it,
That this here dream may go away.

So, wait for the sun to rise,
To see if this is real.
Wait for the moment,
Just like a whisper in your ear.
I know tomorrow brings
An answer it's so clear.
I just don't know if you
were really here.

If you were here
Here with me, tonight

Oh, wait for the sun to rise,
to see if this is real.
Wait for the moment
Like a whisper in your ear
I know tomorrow brings
an answer it's so clear
I just don't know if you
were really here.

Ordinary

Written By: Joseph Accardi

It’s such an ordinary, plain old type, of simple life we live.
That doesn’t mean that it’s ordinarily simple for me to say what I believe.

So, should I tell you all about you?
And I would tell the truth. ‘cause I don’t want you to say,
'You’re only ordinary'.

We talk and talk but it’s always just about that and this And this and that but you know,
that talk is cheap and soon enough everyone here will see the truth start to show.

So, should I tell you all about you?
And I would tell the truth. ‘cause I don’t want you to say...

Take me to the spot where everybody thought you’ve got a lot you’ve got a lot a lot on your mind.

I know you don’t care but everybody there will feel it in the air every time you try to hide, what you are, and what I perceive you to be. As I watch you as you’re stairing back at me.

It’s so fake ...
But I try
Not to make this out to be another lie.
I know you’re scared.
Believe me, I do.
But it’s hard not to pretend I think you’re ordinary too.

So, should I tell you all about you?
And I would tell the truth. ‘cause I don’t want you to say,
'You’re only ordinary'.
