"WORSHIPING IT AT THE SAINT"

Transfusion M, the new and exciting group offering from Michael Ferentino, lead man behind Love in Reverse and Dog, makes it gleefully redundant that singer/guitarist Ferentino has remained highly prolific, recording some 30 albums worth of original material and signing early on to Reprise, who issued the EP I Was Dog in 1996. The full length I Was Here appeared the same year, and in 1988 Love in Reverse resurfaced with Words Become Worms. Also in the late 90s, Michael fronted and wrote material for Amazing Meet Project, a band some people around here say put the A in Alternative.

I havent seen a band this true to the 70s since the 70s. Its a clich, what can I say, but these guys smoke! From the opening Slider (T. Rex) to the closing Suck Century, these guys gave an amazing and vicious performance that kept me up front and away from the bar for the whole set, in a show that was a cross between T. Rex, Bowie, Candlebox, and Iggy.

I had a chance to talk to Michael briefly afterwards, and he said that he was a bit nervous for the first time ever before a performance this night. He hadnt played a full-scale electric show in nearly three years, not to mention this is the first time he had assembled a band completely on his own. But he assembled a tight and confident lineup with matching material that featured some of the areas most talented, hard working players, like Christian Beach, Michael Scotto (of Agency), Kristjan Karu, and Todd Giblin, as well as the undeniable talents of Amy Noble. Ive been around for a while and I know what separates top bands from shallow, going through the motions bullshit and this band is ready to go! These guys were tight, had the crowd screaming and brought in numbers near 175 people, and in fact everyone in attendance sang along with Transfusion Ms mayhem this night!,

Here are some highlights: Opening track T. Rexs the Slider/Rabbit Fighter just knocked me down, while California brought strung out guitars filled with heavy vamp vibes and killer vox into a fun filled number that literally beamed with death ray sunshine reminiscent of T. Rex and Sex Pistols angst.

All the Girls brought a super tight construction and great chorus into into an arrangement with evil, twirling to smoking guitars that made this a monster tune from hell! Ditto my feeling for Criminal which used a Zeppelin style drumming intro behind Bowie influenced vocals and 1970s sculpted guitars and chorus that totally shimmered around this tunes full gold potential.

And get those bad boys a hot dab of Murder, Sex, and Medication! This tune flashed pure Maxs Kansas City balls!! And it was all so reminiscent of the Blockheads and Bowie during my Quaalude days at Max!! Live total vinyl kids screaming of NY Dolls from hell!

Bio

TRANSFUSION M is the newly inaugurated project of the songwriting/guitar genius Michael Ferentino. Michael has been writing since age 5 (or so) and has accumulated a colossal catalog of nearly 1000 songs in a vast variety of styles. He's received voluminous critical accolades for the work of his previous projects.
TRANSFUSION M is a resurgence. A massive new blow of style, freedom, atmosphere and songwriting talent. ...The kind of songs that will last for generations, NOT weeks! Something that is recognizable, for it's beauty as well as its efficiency in expressing the greatest variety of expression ...but recognizable in the sense that one sees where one is headed, not where one has been.
The band which has taken shape around Mr. Ferentino is a stunning unit to experience. Held together by the martially powerful, and yet nuanced, rhythm section of Kristjan Karu (basses) & Todd Giblin (drums). The physical expression of Amy Noble is a unique and synchronous illustration of what the musicians are creating onstage and flows sinuously, erotically, powerfully, curvilinearly …deepening the level of impressive evocation that is present here.
Together it is utterly gargantuan. A peerless flow of energy.

TRANSFUSION M's debut release: SUCK CENTURY, has been released on Dream Makers Music on May 6th of the current year. The album gives nods to the superlative and unique artists that have inspired TRANSFUSION M and all its players as it bravely charts new paths through waters yet uncharted, in equal measure. The kind of attention to detail and loving care and arrangement shown the music in this project is not only the mark of a master craftsman ...in fact, it could not be achieved simply through skill, but only through unquestionable and fervent love and appreciation for what one is doing.

Those who have neglected attending the band's live performances will do what those missing from the legendary performances by, for example, The Police at CBGB's, did: they will make sure to tell people that they were one of the handful of audience-members present, for they will feel foolish to have NOT been.

Please, do yourself the favor of listening to some samples from TRANSFUSION M's new album, to be found on their newly-erected homepage: www.transfusionm.com, as well as on their Myspace page: www.myspace.com/transfusionm; Well, worth the visit and the listen.
...And prepare yourselves. This is something which is coming that is not a "design" ...it is a force of nature.
