This is the second release from Brisbane three-piece Transport, coming on the back of their 2004 debut 'Safe, No Rebounds'. The EP - adorned with striking Mambo-meets-early-1990s-Crowded-House artwork - gets off to a great start with Sunday Driver which, apart from sounding like the bastard love child of The Police and Regurgitator, not only makes for a great lead single due to its downright catchy chorus ("I'm just another one of those Sunday drivers") but also because it manages to encapsulate Transport's groove-heavy, power-pop sound in the space of just a couple of minutes. However, Sunday Driver is only one side of what Transport do. Soda Pop brings out the band's funkier side with its blend of Chilli Peppers-style guitar licks, slap bass and million-mile-an-hour hip-hop styled vocals. The mellower funk breakdown of Butterflies allows the listener to breathe for a few minutes before the bass-heavy Primus-influenced Digital Glitch brings the EP to a close.
Creative songwriting is definitely one of Transport's strengths and the slick, ballsy production only serves to further capture the set of punchy groove-driven pop songs that they have assembled. I found Transport's sound roughly reminiscent of the groove-heavy, hip-hop crossover area that Butterfingers and locals Snap To Zero inhabit, with a wide mix of influences and their refreshingly unconventional approach to crafting tunes helping Transport to stand apart from the current wave of Franz Ferdinand-alikes.

The three-piece release their debut album “The Inner Chimp” in 2007 building upon two successful independent EPs.
