Bio

Transpose started in 2005 in Boston, MA when Brian Paone (Yellow #1, Drop Kick Jesus, The Grave Machine) and Joshua Givens (Cope) wanted to mix all their favorite bands, and genres, into one sound. In 2006 Brian & Joshua recruited Tim Sigler and Jason Bonner (Ashes Of Osiris) to complete the lineup, and relocated the band to Jacksonville, FL.
We wrote our debut album, “A Delicate Impact”, with the elements of prog, metal, screamo and grunge; in the interim, inventing a sound that we call Heavy Grunge-Core. Musical influences during the writing of our album included bands such as Deftones, Neurosis, Tool, Lamb Of God, Faith No More, Nirvana, Thursday and At The Drive In.
Dividing us from other bands in our genre is the use of our vocal effects. All the effects on the vocals are built from scratch by vocalist Brian Paone (who has over 10 years experience in Industrial style bands) and used on stage via stomp box.
Gold record certified producer Scott Fravala (Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) attended a showcase that we played in Jacksonville, FL and approached us after our set; expressing how impressed he was with our energy and unique approach to tones and vocal effects. He invited us to record our debut album at his studio, Vision Sound, in Orange Park, FL. That album, “A Delicate Impact,” was released in April, 2008.
WJAP in Jacksonville, FL has added the track “Only The Dead Go Free” into their metal-show rotation, with great responses and feedback from listeners. After a handful of short tours to promote “A Delicate Impact”, guitarist Joshua Givens decided to leave the band to move back to Boston, MA. Transpose recruited new guitarist TJ Monaghan and took six month off to teach TJ all the songs from “A Delicate Impact.” Transpose then went on and continued touring to promote the debut album.
Transpose has officially started writing the second album with the new lineup. Two songs have been completed for the second release, and have started to be incorporated into the live shows with a great response from the longtime fans. Transpose plans on writing two more songs this spring and then enter to the studio to record a four track EP over the summer for a fall 2010 release.
Transpose has been in discussions with Gavin Hayes to produce the second Transpose CD this summer. Gavin Hayes is the singer for the popular Interscope Records indie band Dredg from Los Gatos, CA. With the cult following that Dredg has worldwide, getting Gavin behind the board for the new Transpose CD will only open the possibilities to spread our own fanbase.
