"POP MUSIC"

The Architects (Travel By Owl) are barely a year old, but in that time they've managed to sell out club shows, land some key opening slots and become one of Ottawa's top independant rock acts.
-Lynn Saxberg - The Ottawa Citizen

"Building Blocks"

Another Ottawa band on the make is roots-rock outfit The Architects (Travel By Owl) who have been burning up stages across the city for just over a year - an easy candidate for Ottawa's hardest working-band. - The Ottawa Citizen

Bio

"Owls are creatures of the night; they move in darkness, which is perfect for a 24 - 7 touring band such as yourselves..."

Sometimes bands fall on hard times, but as they say, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. A new name, a new member, and a new sound is what sparked the flame of Travel By Owl; a band rebirthed from the ashes of a war of words, music, and change. This is a band unconcerned with following in the footsteps of their predeccesors, and even less on repeating themselves. With stylings ranging from the aggressively heavy to the quietly hush, Travel By Owl is a band eager to push the boundaries of sound, while still keeping one that is distinctly their own. Life, love and memory are just a few things the band site, driven at the wheel by the powerful songwritings of lead vocalist Trevor Strange, as influence.

Formerly known as the Architects, the band was originally formed in 2004, and released a debut record This Is About You, which has gone on to sell over one thousand five hundred copies nationwide. Playing shows with the likes of Matt Mays, The Fully Down, Wintersleep, and The Novaks, the band eventually came to a halt with the departure of then-guitarist Blair Hogan. It was at this point the band found themselves at a crossroads, and decided that it was time for a change.

After six months of stripped-down shows, threatened legal action, and disappearing band members, the band finally solidified a new accompaniment with the addition of lead guitarist Jordan Allen. The name Travel By Owl was then born out of a hunger for renewal, a taste for the future. The band has since been performing shows around Ottawa and southern Ontario, and are planning to release a debut record this summer. This is a band whose show you will not want to pass up.
