Bio

TRAVELER is a captivating, powerful, impacting band who's music demands not only to be heard, but to be experienced. Mixing British/Euro-Rock and Indie-Pop, Traveler has developed a sound of their own, defining the genre of "Dream Rock".

Since Traveler's inception in October 2004, the band has gained tremendous exposure throughout their home region in the South (TX, OK, AR, LA), and in New York after being named "Best Pop/Rock Band" and one of six named "Best of the Best Bands" at the 2005 New York Film and Music Festival. With the release of their debut EP in May 2005, a full length live album released in June 2006, Traveler created a dedicated and growing fan base. After taking 10 months away from performing to restructure, write and refocus marketing efforts, Traveler recorded a single with Grammy Award winning recording engineer and Centro-matic drummer, Matt Pence. The single was also co-produced and mixed by Mark Pirro, bass player for The Polyphonic Spree and Tripping Daisy. This single will be part of an upcoming EP due to release in the summer of 2008.

One story that speaks of the band's passion and drive is told by Traveler lead singer, Scotty Isaacs:
"We're driving our van on a major highway toward Dallas, TX to play a show at Curtain Club, when all the sudden something explodes under the hood. The smoke is so thick you can't see any cars behind us. The engine cuts out and we pull over as fast as we can. We bail out and find a fire raging throughout the engine and underneath the van!
Standing in awe of the flames eating our van, we try to get a couple of valuables out and realize that we have to get our trailer, with over $20,000 worth of equipment, off the van before the gas tank explodes. Choking on the smoke, our drummer and I get the trailer unhitched just under a minute before the van, with its 3/4 full gas tank, explodes! We watched our van and every dime the band had burn to the ground. Thank God we still have our instruments!
To make a very long story shorter, a friend who was with us had enough money to rent us a Uhaul truck and we hooked up and continued our journey to Dallas to play the show. That night was one of the most beautiful performances we've played yet, because that night we were playing for more than just the people in that club. We were playing for the fact that we were standing on that stage, playing our hearts out despite what had happened a few hours earlier... and that we were alive.
Even though we lost our van, all of our money, and a few more things inside, we still have what's most important to us. You see, this band... this idea we call, Traveler, isn't a hobby to us. It's who we are. It's about what we believe. It's our passion. And through that, we hope we can continue to touch more and more people with our music. We're hungry for that and always will be. Life can throw many things at you to cause hope to fade, but without hope, you'll never move ahead. You can't loose if you don't give up."
