Traveler's Dawn

Traveler's Dawn

BandRock

A variation on "melodic hard rock" built around the vocal/lyrical performance. More focused on punctuated rhythms people can groove to than on the "wall of sound" typical of the genre.

Biography

Traveler's Dawn is the creative endeavor of Dave Heibl, frontman and songwriter. Dave is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, and Full Sail's industry leading School for the Recording Arts in Orlando. Their self-titled debut cd, written and produced by Dave Heibl, was recorded at YellowDOG studios in Tulsa, OK, mixed by Mike Zirkel at Smart Studios in Madison, WI, and mastered by Doug McBride at Gravity Studios in Chicago, IL. Dave is joined on the road by Ryan Taalbi, Adam Perkins, and Travis Ziegler, all of Madison, WI, where the band is based. Dave's english and communications degree from the UW is evidence of a passion for words that has led to a strength in the vocal/lyrical foundation of TDawn's music that sets them apart from the crowd. Many people say that while contemporary in sound and production, there are elements in our music reminiscent of the classic rock of the late 60's early 70's.

In The Sun

In the Sun
(Heibl)

Lately I've been jumping fences
Trying to catch a glimpse
Of what my heart says should have been
Sometime in the last ten

Grass stains worn from tripping on chances
Catalysts of a promise
That is burned into my skin
Where do I begin

I have seen this road they've worn
I know where it ends
And I don't want time to give us up
Before our time begins

'Cause our glory days they come
Like a dog's day in the sun

All those nights you shine like fireflies
The sum of all your light
Exceeds the strength you have to shine
In all your parts in another place and time

It might take awhile now
For me to grow into these shoes
But when our turn comes to wear the lights
Let our better light shine through

I have seen this road they've worn
I know where it ends
And I don't want time to give us up
Before our time begins

'Cause our glory days they come
Like a dog's day in the sun

Follow
(Heibl)

I don't know where this road is leading
Except beyond this place I've been
And though I may never remember all the names and faces
I think I'd call you my friends
We always follow this feeling back again

I started listening to my life like the songs we heard
When we used to drive around our town
On all those nights when she said "please don't take me home"
We grew up with radio on, and the windows down
And somehow we found our way
We always found our way, like sayin'

I will follow this feeling awhile
'Cause I've got no place else to be
And just by you standing here
I know you stand a chance of understanding me
And deep down, I know we're all listening

United in this half-light
At the end of another mile
I've seen your face before my friend
In another smile
There are as many stories here
As shadows to hide them behind
But it just takes a certain song
To bring back a state of mind
And remind me that every dream that we let slide
Is just another chance that's passing us by

I will follow this feeling awhile
'Cause I've got no place else to be
And just by you standing here
I know you stand a chance of understanding me
And deep down I know we're all listening

With your words in my hands
I'm gonna take my stand

I don't know where this road is leading
Except beyond this place I've been
Everything I've learned is in a box under my front seat
And you can rest assured I'll do the best I can
We'll always follow this feeling back again.

Dizzy Love

Written By: Dave Heibl (ASCAP)

Dizzy Love
(Heibl)

In the beauty of this dizzy love
Our lives spin tonight
I feel the fingers of her breath on my neck
And I'm hanging on too tight

Her whisper stirs my weary soul
And the curtains of my mind
But even the girl who paints the sunsets in the sky
Can't be gentle all the time

Won't you take me down to the water
And let me taste of your perceptions and time
Maybe loss can be forgotten
If this life comes down to energy and light
All I have to offer here is all I have to give
But I've got the will to live through you
To trust we'll have the time to see things through
The best that we can do

In the beauty of this dizzy love I feel alive
Never felt so high
But with every fragile breath I fear the flag of balance
Under which she rides

Won't you take me down to the water
And let me taste of your perceptions and time
Maybe loss can be forgotten
If this life comes down to energy and light
All I have to offer here is all I have to give
But I've got the will to live
To trust we'll have the time to see things through
The best that we can do
