The best kept secret in music
Press
“Live at KSER” is an all-live performance recorded in the studios of 90.7FM Everett, but there is something else underlying this CD that I feel makes this work unique and atypical, namely Travis Hartnett has figured out how to clone himself on stage.
Hartnett, Seattle based guitarist, is a member of the internet community Looper’s Delight, just a few hundred musicians from around the world who share ideas and support anything and everything related to looped music. This fact makes sense out of his CD.
At first pass, “Live at KSER” may appear to most listeners as an acoustic duo, trio, or even four-piece act, but in fact Hartnett is utilizing audio looping technology to record and playback multiple layers of guitar parts in real-time. This is not canned accompaniment on CD or from a sequencer, but live layered multi-tracking. What you play is what you get, and there is no turning back. That requires discipline and quick thinking on the spot.
“Live at KSER” is entirely instrumental and consists of nine acoustic guitar tracks that I predict will be pleasing to most ears. Many of the tracks begin with a guitar motif that Hartnett loops to set the stage of the song. This is followed by bass lines, harmonizing parts, and a series of improvised melodies that I hope take you on a cathartic and mind soothing journey. - Boise Weekly

Bio
Travis Hartnett is a Seattle-based musician who performs acoustic guitar instrumentals, accompanied by real-time sampling of his own playing. Using a foot-controlled loop sampler, he records a few bars of his playing--chords, a bassline or percussion generated from tapping and slapping the face of the instrument, and then seamlessly plays melodies and counter-melodies on top.
