Torch (aka Moka Only)
Psychodelic
By Thomas Quinlan

With album after album of self-produced beats, Psychodelic is a refreshing switch for Moka Only, even if the label situation looks a little low budget. Still, producer/label head Tre must have had enough money to get Moka to lace almost 21 of his beats (there are a few instrumentals) for this album, and Moka is in fine form. He flips styles, harmonizes a little bit and continuously kicks it in his effortless, laidback swagger, but he also displays a newfound enthusiasm, perhaps in part energized by what he calls his "musical vacation," or beat break, on "Key In the Ignition." Or maybe it's from replacing his jazzy, lo-fi basement beats with the heavier funk of Tre's crisp, clean, catchy and sometimes quirky production. Whatever it is, the collaboration works. The beats are perfect for Moka and the result is a damn fine addition to the Moka Only catalogue and a great debut for Tre. (Threat House) - Exclaim! Magazine

Bio

Born September 3, 1981, Terath "Tre" Thandi was raised in a middle-class Indo-Canadian family on the Canadian west coast. The youngest of four children, he always had a strong passion for music and the arts, and started writing songs at the age of 12. After years of hard work and still never seeing any opportunities to get involved in the music industry, Tre ended up enrolling himself in a recording arts school which he started attending in 2002. Tre released his first mixtape later that year, and after receiving and turning down numerous recording contracts from local labels, he established his own independent record label, Threat-House Records, in 2003. Tre released his first full-length album Addiction in 2006 which helped him build a strong underground fan-base in Canada and the U.S. Today, Tre is by far one of the most, if not the most, independent artists in the music industry. He writes, produces, mixes, and engineers his own music without feeling the need to use any software or samples to produce his beats. He also produces and directs music videos, and is the CEO of his record label, Threat-House Records Inc.
