Tree Heart Orchestra

Tree Heart Orchestra

Songs ranging from grandiose choral crescendos to intimate and warm pop pieces to pulsing organic grooves. If sound is really a form of touch, we want to envelope you with a big hug. Both lyrically and musically honest, permeated by a sense of upfront nakedness.

Tree Heart Orchestra is a collective of musicians based around the artistic endeavors of Kasey Klimes and Jeremy Clark. To surrender the music to one particular genre or another would be difficult, though the songs tend to revolve around 'indie pop' in one form or another. Influences include The Microphones, Neutral Milk Hotel, Sufjan Stevens, Animal Collective and Sigur Ros.
We began as a strange project in a humble basement studio, from which a DIY spirit was born that continues to take an apparent place within our sound. Beginning in a recording environment allowed us an inherent freedom of instrumentation and layering of various sounds. When we began to play live, our shows quickly became a challenge to maintain that freedom. A multitude of non-traditional instruments are used; ukuleles, accordions, circuit-bent casios, banjos, melodicas, harmochords, trumpets, bowed-guitars, bells and various percussion. We’ve organized choirs and string sections, and when necessary formed a band of more traditional rock musicians as well.
Though intimate, our live shows often border on performance art, from the use of cell phones as microphones to tribal percussion breakdowns to a dozen or more people wandering the stage blowing bubbles. More than a band, Tree Heart Orchestra is a community sonic art project.

upcoming Split with Alexander and the Growing Mind, Dirtman, and A Lime Tree.

also, upcoming EP, "small songs".

Set List

We have no 'typical set list'. Determined by where and with whom we may be playing, one show could be a quiet, intimate acoustic set, while another could be an all out distortion and drums set with a choir and string section. Both shows are tree heart, but they may have very few of the same songs in common. You will never see two of the same Tree Heart shows.

Our songs:
Ode to a Skintight Rainbow
Part One
Part Two
Lightening Song
Hunting For Morning
Elephant Baby
Mountains and Their Marriage
Good Morning!
Diving Board Orange Sky
Love Is
Forget Your Mittens
I Lost My Breath
Seed People

We try to do one cover song most shows. We never repeat them, but songs we've covered (or sang the words to but changed entirely) include:
"Give Peace a Chance" by John Lennon
"Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel
"Straight Up" by Paula Abdul
"King of Carrot Flowers" by Neutral Milk Hotel
