Bio

Treehouses began as a two-piece side-project in early 2014.
After a positive response at their first live performance, they recorded
two demos in May 2014. With the momentum and support this first release
offered, Tim and Ethan recorded a full length album in bedrooms and
kitchens, released in November 2014 to worldwide acclaim. Treehouses
followed this release with a self-booked, DIY ethic east-coast tour,
playing in parks, houses and pubs to committed groups of fans.

Treehouses followed this successful first year with the release of a
single titled 'soft voices' in April 2015. This track marked a profound
growth in the duo's songwriting, packed full of flowing time changes and
twisting lyrical imagery. Treehouses released this single and an
accompanying B-side on cassette tape and embarked on a full national
tour supporting local skramz band Sail On! Sail On!.

A brand new song titled '3am' was released with an accompanying music
video in November 2015, from an upcoming collaborative release. The new
sound explored by this song showcased the multitude of ways in which
the duo had matured and expanded as musicians, poets and songwriters,
and was positively received - "I'm really struggling to find the right
way to say how much I adore this" / "deeper than the Mariana Trench".

This single was to be the first track of a collaborative release
titled 'Extended Family', in which Tim and Ethan collaborated with some
of the band's favourite local, national, international poets, musicians,
and artists to create six diverse tracks of moody, textured
soundscapes, driven equally by spoken word poetry and folk melodies.

In a public post the day before 'Extended Family' was released, Ethan wrote:

"These songs are very close to our hearts – songs about challenging
relationships that will make or break this band, songs about nostalgia
and discovery, songs about missing something, about rescuing friends and
about losing them. We’re so excited to share these stories with you –
you’re going to hear 8 different voices on this release, and even more
minds coming through in the art and music. At one stage we had a group
vocal track with 11 people all crammed into Tim’s bedroom. But those
tracks turned out shit, so you’ll never hear them."

Following this release, Treehouses took part in a series of special
live performances as a five piece band, incorporating the vocal
harmonies, violin, percussion and depth of sound that had made the songs
on 'Extended Family' so memorable. Treehouses performed a unique
stripped down set at Paper Mountain's 'Sound Paper' event, supported The
Hotelier at the Newport Hotel in Fremantle in November of 2015, and
showcased the diversity of their musical repertoire at numerous local
shows in Perth.

Most recently, Treehouses released a four track live recording,
accompanied by live videos of each performance, captured at Foxhole
Studios on a single night in March 2016.
