Treestar

Treestar

 Scarborough, Ontario, CAN
BandAlternativePunk

An aggressive attack of post-punk and post-hardcore, as well as an energetic live show.

Biography

Theatre class would typically not be the first place you'd think a band would form, but in the case of Angela Barbosa and Louis Tentsos, it would be the start of something amazing.

The two joined forces after Louis performed his music on an acoustic, and Angela read some spoken word poetry at an open mic night at the University they attended. They both approached each other afterwards, and discussed the possibility of performing together musically

Treestar was born in March 2005, based out of the Pickering, Ontario area. After numerous lineup changes, the band settled with Marco Vani (bass), Robert Skelhorn (guitar) and Jeremy Kiehl (drums). Their hard-rock ethic and commitment to being a sonic assault live has gained them notoriety for being an amazing and energetic live act to see. Their songwriting skills have been recognized as being mature and versatile, as they can combine both short, energetic punk numbers with more progressive yet melodic epic songs. On top of that, the words of Angela Barbosa are those that speak of a woman trying to find her place in a world that doesn't seem right or fair. A far cry of many of other women in the pop-music scene, Angela sings about injustice, murder, heartbreak, and adds flavor by singing in Spanish as well, as her pride in her native country of Columbia makes up part of who she is.

Treestar is currently touring in support of their E.P.
