"Action Bronson x Tre Leji x The Get-By Live at The Rivoli"

"Next up, was the self-proclaimed Toronto-based futuristic boom-bap super group, Tre Leji. I’ve seen these guys’ rock cyphers around the city before, but I’ve never caught them live. I must say I was really impressed by their set. Another 3 man crew, these cats had nice beats, choreography that managed to avoid corniness, and rhymes delivered with a crazy energy that sadly gets overlooked by many modern hip-hop acts. Check out the JMC presents…Tre Leji project on their bandcamp." - The Come-Up Show

Bio

“Futuristic boom-bap” powerhouse Tre Leji erupted onto the scene in late 2009 with a wild and refreshing energy reminiscent of hip-hop's golden age. The release of their debut EP, “JMC Presents...”, marked the beginning of what promises to be the future of Canadian urban music as a whole.

Comprised of Toronto natives and childhood friends Guzo Lou (Prod/MC), South P! (Prod/ MC) and Dubby Free Lo (MC/ Hypeman), the group came together not instantaneously, but rather by evolutionary process. All three members were introduced to the stage in their middle school days, each through separate musical endeavours, organizing and performing at their own shows, as well as composing original music of various genres, providing the common ground for the three to combine as one. When they come together as the “TL” this experience is evident.

Since its formation in 2009, the group has been overwhelmingly embraced by the notoriously standoffish Toronto hip-hop scene, combining with notable organizations such as ManifesTO and the Droppin' Knowledge concert series. While continuing to build a name for themselves as a musical powerhouse, the group stay true to their roots of guerilla marketing and a larger-than-life stage show, complete with back-and-forth wordplay, synchronized dance routines and unique stage props.

From clothes, to personality, to musical interest, these three have never conformed to the norms of those around them. Donning the unique and memorable moniker Tre Leji symbolized their commitment to taking the road less travelled and creating a unique and individual brand. Looking towards the future, the group is set to release their sophomore effort, “TL2” and continue to innovate and entertain, bringing colour and honesty to a genre too often marked by repetition and negativity. One need only see them once to appreciate what truly sets Tre Leji apart from the rest.

Tre Leji has played alongside such acts as:

Rakim, 9th Wonder & Phonte, Action Bronson, Illa J & Frank Nitty, Tanika Charles, Team Canada DJs, Rich Kidd, Ghettosocks & Muneshine, D-Sisive, Smash Brovaz, Spek Won, Kid Capri, Freedom Writers, Michie Mee, Blu & Exile, RA The Rugged Man, Killah Priest and more...
