Sennheiser's HearIAm Music Campaign Draws Enthusiastic Response from Both Artists and Fans as Initiative Moves into First Round of Voting . Cornwall band Trench Town Oddities are in the running. Check out the band's website at www.trenchtownoddities.com.


Headphone and Microphone specialist Sennheiser announced that its HearIAm campaign for the Americas has moved into its first round of voting. The campaign, which is designed for sound-loving musicians and fans seeking to discover and share new music, has already attracted an overwhelming response among both artists and fans after making its official launch on June 7th. Currently, voting is already underway for the first phase of the contest, which offers winning artists a chance to play a set at Osheaga 2010 in Montreal on August 1. Twenty bands have been selected as finalists, representing regions across North America. Cornwall based Trench Town Oddities is one of the top twenty bands selected for this round.The Trench Town Oddities are a 5-piece band consisting of Sean Harley(Lead Vocals, Acoustic Guitar), Steve R. (Backing Vocals, Lead Acoustic Guitar), Nick Kalil (Bass Guitar), Todd Harrington (Drums) and Randy Lalonde (Djembe, Bongos, Percussion). Playing an eclectic blend of pop, funk, rock, blues and reggae - often called Caribbean pop or rock reggae - listening to the Trench Town Oddities conjures up images of summer fun, beaches and tropical cocktails! A crowd pleaser for every age group.

Never one to remain idle, front man Sean Harley - a staple on the Canadian indie music scene who past musical experiences include sharing the stage with some of North America's biggest acts (Sum41, April Wine, Headstones, Kim Mitchell, Glass Tiger, ect), recording in world class studios (Metalworks, Phase One, Distortion), not to mention having music picked up by various TV Shows (Witchblade), extreme sports videos (Snowmobiling Canada), and TV Appearances (Tom Green) - decided to start the Trench Town Oddities as way to get together with some musical buddies and have fun playing music without the pressures associated with trying to be the next big thing. Guitarist Steve R. was first on-board after the duo bumped into each other at a local music store. Having known Steve for a number of years but never having a chance to play together, Sean jumped at the opportunity to recruit such an exception guitarist. Next was Randy who previously played with Sean in a band called the Dub Dogz. Nick Kalil was next, who many not have been the first bassist for the Oddities but most definitely will be the last. Final, Todd Harrington was brought in to keep it solid on the drums.

So there you have it, the rules are simply... when at a Trench Town Oddities show have fun... and be prepared to party 'til the wee hours or the morning! By participating in the contest, fans can preview and share thousands of their favourite music tracks with others using customized social media tools and applications. Moreover, fans are able to cast votes for their favourite artists, making both artists and fans eligible to win a myriad of exceptional prizes including trips to well known American music festivals. For artists, the trips include prominent performance slots at these festivals, along with Sennheiser equipment valued at $10,000.00. Musicians and fans will have many opportunities to enter the contest before it concludes next spring. By the time the contest wraps up in spring of 2011, a single grand-prize winner will be selected to receive a special A&R showcase and a distribution deal, courtesy of Universal Republic records.

Artists House Music, a non-profit educational music venture, has revealed the winners of its inaugural demo evaluation contest. Three winning demos were chosen to be critiqued by Artists House Music's panel of experts. The demos will be posted online alongside advice from music industry experts.

Ines, Mathien, and Trench Town Oddities captured the top prize, despite varying in skill level and experience.

Ines, a Los Angeles native, combined elements of rock, techno, and hip-hop to drive her entry "Makin Me Sick."

Mathien, the one-man band and brainchild of Southern Illinois University student Chris Mathien also captured top honors. Mathien's entry, "The Hard Way," blends soul and R&B elements to create a magnetic track. Mathien's debut album "Head, Heart and Hands" is expected later this year. Mathien acted as producer on the album, in addition to providing all instrumental sections.

Trench Town Oddities also garnered top placing with its entry, "Workin' Again". The Ontario, Canada-based group formed in 2005 and dropped its first album in July of 2007. The four-piece band fuses Reggae elements and traditional southern folk sounds into a polished track that has been making inroads on the college radio scene.

Acoustic Folk Southern Rock Reggae mixed together with the atmosphere of , Outdoor drinking Campfires, Backyard Barbecues, and entertaining summer nights is what Days & Nights can be summed up to be described as.
Trench Town Oddities is a five piece band that resides themselves out of Cornwall Ontario. The members of Trench Town Oddities are Sean Harley on Lead Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards and also plays Percussion, Sean is also the founding member of the band. Steve Restinetti plays Lead Guitar and Vocals. On Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals it is Nick Kalil. On the Skins and Percussion Randy Lalonde takes the seat for the job, also on Drums and Percussion plus vocals there is Todd Harrington.
On Days & Nights there are a total of eight songs. The one song that stood right out to me was when I read the back of the album case was “Hand In My Pocket”. I think this is the first time that I have seen a band cover this Alanis song in particular. I must say I was a little intrigued when I read this and I had to listen to this song first before any of the other songs. Overall the cover of the song was done fairly well the only thing I might have changed in the song was the vocals. Not the entire vocals in the song but just where the vocals went into a higher pitch. I guess that is the problem when guys vocals need to cover women vocals in songs. I find it is hard to create the same atmosphere and characteristics of the song when the song is covered by the other gender.

“Working Again” is one of the few of songs that I like the most off of the album. The opening acoustics were an immediate ear catcher for me. This song is the perfect example of the description that I gave to describe their music. Another mention that I must make is the well rounded vocals which are an extra additive to the song. The vocals seem to be at the perfect tone all throughout the song and adapt to the song perfectly. If there was another reason why you need read about before you buy this album here it is, the music video that is added to the special features that appears when you put the cd into your computer. If you don’t get a laugh out of the video like I did, you probably don’t have a sense of humour then.

“End Up Here” is my next favourite song on the album. The song follows right after “Working Again”. There is a combination of properties that make this song another favourite of mine. The lyrics are one and the acoustics is another. But I would have to say that I enjoy the acoustics more. If you are an acoustic fan as I am you will enjoy this album throughout all the songs. Particularly in this song where there is an instrumental break in the song, and there are larger breaks between the lyrics where there is just the instruments playing. The reason why I like the lyrics in this song is because of these two lines and also how the last line is repeated throughout the song, it is sort of a real life description for me.

“We both knew that I would end up here
So why don’t you just pass me my beer.“

C’est du moins une partie de l’histoire de Trench Town Oddities et l’impression que donne le groupe à l’écoute de Days & Nights, une galette contenant huit pièces. On tombe ici surtout dans le folk-rock avec des petits accents d’été créés notamment par un djembé et une petite guitare légère à la Jack Johnson. Sous la gouverne du frontman Sean Harley, qui a déjà partagé les planches avec Sum 41 et April Wine, le groupe s’amuse, se laisse aller et ce n’est pas pour déplaire. La reprise de Hand In My Pocket d’Alanis Morissette est peu originale, mais tout de même intéressante. À surveiller. - BangBang!

Trench Town Oddities Endorsing Indie Guitars

Trench Town Oddities of Ottawa, Ontario are Canada’s first band to endorse Indie guitars “UK & Europe's fastest growing line of guitars”.

Ontario Canada based Trench Town Oddities is announcing it's new endorsement relationship with Indie Guitars, the "Indie Attitude" company one of UK & Europe's fastest growing line of guitars now available in Canada and the U.S. Trench Town Oddities is a 5-piece folk-rock band that sounds like a blend of Jack Johnson, the Black Crowes, Bob Marley and City and Colour. The band will play guitars and basses from its "Acoustic Range Series".

The band is current touring extensively throughout Eastern Canada and on down days, recording the follow-up to their highly successful debut "Days & Nights". They hope to have their sophomore CD, which will be entitled "Live.Love.Laugh", in stores by years end. In the interim, the band will be releasing an EP in August entitled "Sometimes I Never Laugh" which will feature 3 songs and a new video.

"We are excited about bringing this line of guitars to North America and just as happy to welcome the Trench Town Oddities into the Indie family. Their dedication to their craft on and off stage made them a no-brainer when their name came up as possible endorsees" says Paul Bryan of Indie Guitars. Trench Town Oddities frontman Sean Harley says it was "their attention the detail and the fact that they felt great to play" that made him become an Indie man.
