The best kept secret in music

"The Metronome Theory"

The state of Ohio is known for its beauty, factories, colleges and sports teams. This state is also known for great R&B bands and musicians that held court on the music charts back in the 1970’s through the 1990’s. This time period is what I call the last decade of great music. It was a time when the musician played for the joy of it and they sang for real and played real music on real instruments without the use of Pro Tools and other music computer programming technology. Following in their footsteps is a multi-instrumentalist that I have fallen in love with . You all know how I do it; if I love a musician or a band I like to share my new musical gems. So without further ado, I am presenting to you, Ohio’s own: Trenton Lundy. This musical prodigy like I mentioned before is a multi-instrumentalist. He plays the keyboards(that’s the newest instrument), he plays drums, guitar, and bass. My conversation with him was delightful. He got his start playing music as a child in church. However, it was not until later in life that he began playing more seriously. It all started at the church. This is where he would operate the music soundboards; when the drummer, for some reason, was no longer playing at his church. He said it was a voice maybe God or some spirit telling him to play the drums. He at this point had only played the drums twice in his life. He asked the music director if he could play the drums he sat down behind the drums and he played. Things went so well that the preacher laid hands on him and prophesied that he was going to be a great musician playing for the Lord.He took this as his cue to play the music that he loves. This artist is very much influenced by the late great and never will be forgotten Prince. He said Prince helped him see how to be true to himself musically and how not to get caught up in business traps laid out by the music industry. His goal is to bring joy to the world with his music. He plays dance/funk and I personally hear a little jazz in there too. I love his guitar playing and drumming skills but I love watching him play bass. It was like his bass playing connected deeply with me within my spirit we connected and that is super awesome. I don’t say that about everyone I hear even if I love them but sometimes in this music lover’s life a musician will touch me in a way that is hard for me to describe but I feel it. I love all those instruments but you all who know me realize how I feel about the bass. I found out during our conversation that the bass is his favorite instrument to play and you can feel that and see it in his videos. His eyes are closed and you can see that he is totally into what he is playing. I learned a little bit about this 5’8″ gentleman. He told me who some of his influences were. They are Prince, Larry Graham, and Victor Wooten. These are some awesome musicians to have as an influence. He also admires some of his fellow Ohio-based bands like the Dazz Band, Aurra, Lakeside, the Isley Brothers and The Ohio Players. I can’t help but get excited about this man because I think of him like a little-hidden gem in the music world and I get to share him with you. Well, this man not only is a great talent, but he has a wonderful personality he is full of positivity and upbuilding. He is the type of person you would want in your life. No drama or ego; just a cool guy. He is also a perfectionist when it comes to his music. You can almost say that his motto is: “There will be no music before its time”. In other words, he will not post music unless he feels it is up to his standards and that is a good thing for us. I really enjoyed speaking to him and I really appreciate that he allowed me to share his gift with the rest of the world. I see great things in Trenton’s future. I truly believe that we ain’t seen nothing yet.Now it is time for me to share the wealth and the sexiness.Yes, ladies he is very sexy. I tried not to say it but it just can’t be helped so I apologize to those I offend but you be the judge. - Katherine Mills
