Trespassengers are a 4 piece Alt-Country band from Harrisburg, PA. Music that isn't verbose, or over the top in anyway. Just a few chords strung together that stick in your head, the kind you find yourself whistling days later.

Biography

So what the hell is a Trespassenger?

I don't know for sure, the name came from Todd's eight year old son while they were discussing how sometimes people are where they don't belong. Actually in that context Trespassengers is an ideal name for this band. We aren't a punk band, though we can belt out a few classics if it comes to that. We aren't a country band, not Nashville country anyway. We aren't really a rock and roll band either, too many sad songs and countryish type stuff in our set list. I guess it's just music for folks like you and me. Music for regular folks, songs with lyrics that actually mean something (if you want them to). Music that isn't verbose, or over the top in anyway. Just a few chords strung together that stick in your head, the kind you find yourself whistling days later.

The band is lead by Sam Weight who writes just about all the material. Sam plays guitar and sings. The other guys in the group are Brian Lang on drums, Mike Francisco on bass, and Todd Slater on guitar and backing vocals. Trespassengers don't play many cover songs; some of the material we do cover is from bands like Wilco, Son Volt, Neutral Milk Hotel, and the Eels.

Who's Next

I didn't send out any invitations
I checked twice so I'm sure I locked the door
That voice I heard, it must have been imagined
Cause it's just me here with my guitar

I turned off all the lights in the basement
Just to find out that I'm not really scared
It's pretty dark, but I can see a little
Just enough to make it to the stairs

I'd go out but it won't stop raining
I found out what loneliness is for
Nothing's wrong, I'm not complaining

There's no point in putting up resistance
There's things inside of me I can't explain
I'm digging up stuff I never knew existed
Put it back before I go insane

Is there a park where they really sell amusement?
With cheap thrills they think I've never had
An idle mind can be quite a play thing
Hell it's easy to make the devil laugh

I'd go out but it won't stop raining
I found out what loneliness is for
Nothing's wrong, I'm not complaining
I'm not braging about my education
But I know what loneliness is for
A sad song can't make me change the station

I just relax and listen to some records
Who's Next is lying on the floor
I count the days it's been since you left me
Who's next? What are they waiting for?

Tell Me

You sneak out of my room
As I freak out on you
But to scream is just my blood type
Though you have the will
To see me through this season
Depression and confusion
they flood my mind

Tell me again
as I lean around the corner
I am looking out the window
as you gently take my hand
I didn't mean to ignore you
But I get so lost without it
If the sun has gone behind me
I am staring at the moon

If you'll read to me
I'll turn off the t.v.
And though I know the ending
I'll still act surprised
Like every word is true
And I want it to be
The room gets warmer
as I close my eyes

Tell me again
what I said when I was sleeping
There is something from the bible
and a necklace made of gold
I didn't mean to alarm you
But I screamed 'cause I was frightened
And I swear I felt the devil
wrap his fingers 'round my throat

You won't turn around
but I know that you've been crying
Though I never meant to hurt you
That's exactly what I've done
We both know I'm sorry
but some things can't be forgotten
If the Son is shining blindly
you'll still see it when it's gone

Make Us Proud

I have heard the voices in the dark
And I have let the strings pull at my heart
I can feel it leap inside my chest
When I'm too tired to resist
It seems that change can be so hard
But that's what sets me apart

I have leaned on both sides of the fence
And I've kept my mind in suspense
If everything was black and white
Then I could get some sleep tonight
Cause I'd know right where I fit in

I won't walk away from this
So don't count on it
Cause I want to be
Someone who's proud of me

I won't walk away from this
I wouldn't dream of it
Cause I want to be
Someone who's proud of me

I know I'm gonna make mistakes
And I should watch what I say
But let's get one thing clear
I won't break down in tears
When I don't even feel ashamed
Cause I know things are gonna change
