“This sophisticated yet accessible album raises the bar for band driven singer-songwriter releases in 2016 and it would be a massive injustice if the Canadian awarding organisations don’t come calling when the time arrives to formalise the year." - Three Chords and the Truth UK -

"A straight forward style and original songs that appeal to both head and heart. It's easy to imagine Iris Dement putting her mark on Alguire's ballad I Suppose." - Vintage Guitar Magazine - Vintage Guitar Magazine

It is without doubt that this album will end up amongst the great on the country, Americana charts."

"Blog Critics- Review"

"Alguire sings in a smooth, unprepossessing, slightly vulnerable baritone that's both expressive and soothing. On the instrumental side, the performances are impeccable." - Blog Critics- Review

"Andrew Carver- The Ottawa Sun"

"Alguire has found just the right voice for his tales of world weary
travelers and lonely wanderers." A sure-handed country rock album in the vein of Steve Earle and Tom Petty.... ”
- The Ottawa Sun

"Francois Braeken- www.rootstime.be"

“ It seems the Canadians are on an overwhelming offensive. We used to be really into the (young) Neil Young and were impressed with the albums of The Cash Brothers, Gordon Lightfoot, Fred Eaglesmith, Ron Sexsmith, Blue Rodeo, Kathleen Edwards . With the album "As of Yesterday" singer/songwriter Trevor Alguire (Ottawa) can join that line-up “. - Roots Time

Bio

Perish In The Light, the stunning new album by Ottawa Valley-based Trevor Alguire was released on September 30th and is already getting extensive airplay and great reviews around the world, with some praising this album as one of the finest roots releases of 2016. “This sophisticated yet accessible album raises the bar for band driven singer-songwriter releases in 2016 and it would be a massive injustice if the Canadian awarding organisations don’t come calling when the time arrives to formalise the year…This articulate songwriter might be a dream chaser, poetic pursuer and playing life’s chance game with his work, but his message is clearly understood and he is proudly in the possession of an album that is equipped to move his career forward.” - 3 Chords and the Truth

“When you hear a striking album and find out that it is the artist's 6th release you realize Trevor Alguire is well worth seeking out. A Canadian singer/songwriter who has co-produced and written all the material here and these are songs that have an immediacy that is as convincing as it is confident.” - Lonesome Highway

“The man has something to say and his music is more than strong…A must for anyone who loves Americana, country and folk
.” - Keys and Chords About Trevor Alguire  Perish In The Light marks Trevor Alguire’s 6th album bringing with it a maturity in songwriting seldom seen and rarely captured by only a select few of this country’s most prolific well-travelled veteran songwriters. Alguire draws from over a decade of touring across North America and Europe.  With a star-studded lineup of instrumentalists believing in his songwriting, including PEI’s own Juno & ECMA award-winning Catherine MacLellan, who sings a haunting duet alongside Alguire titled ”My Sweet Rosetta” worthy enough to stand the hair up on the back of your neck or bring a tear to your eye at first listen. With constant comparisons to early recordings of bands Wilco and Blue Rodeo, renowned musician Bob Egan, of said bands, also accompanies Alguire on this new recording with beautiful yet haunting pedal steel that drifts throughout several tracks only bringing these thoughtful words more weight and meaning. Miranda Mulholland (Great Lake Swimmers, Belle Star) adds timeless fiddle playing throughout while keys player Jesse O’Brien (Colin James, Bryan Adams) interweaves organ and piano magically like a thread subtly throughout adding depth to the pictures being drawn with further backing vocals by ECMA award winning Meaghan Blanchard. The album, recorded at Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, Ontario, features 10 stunning original songs, proving why Alguire is one of Canada’s most criminally underrated songwriters. Drop a needle on this album and dim the lights down low, and sit back as your mind travels through time with thoughts of past loves, lives lost and new hope found. Alguire has a story to tell, and with over 70 songs recorded in only a decade, this old soul travels through this world passionately sharing these stories with everyone he meets. All the while gathering and documenting these special moments and conversations while continuing his heartfelt journey assured to leave in his wake a lifetime of precious stories told.

Trevor Alguire is no stranger to the road and spends much of his time playing tour dates across Canada and beyond, winning over fans one live show at a time. He's shared stages with Tom Cochrane, Jimmy Rankin, Danny Michel, Romi Mayes, and Martha Wainwright. Alguire will head out across Canada on tour this fall in support of his new album Perish In The Light.
