A pop album that won't make you cringe

Good, clean, fun - amazing!

You'll never say bad things about pop again

16 blissful tracks that redefine the very essence of pop in 2019

Fans, both old and young have all had their reservations about pop music at some point or the other right from the genre's early days, but even more so over the past few years which have seen the genre pervaded with hip hop antics that have considerably reduced its potential for mass appeal, which is what the genre is generally all about. Sure, we are all tired of the same old lyrics and remakes of the same old songs, and even copies but this album makes no attempt whatsoever to take things back to how it was in the old days, rather, it defines its own path and careers down it like a runaway train with breaks that mysteriously work in just the right places. To cut a long story short, it's not an album that aims to correct everything that's going wrong with pop today, stand out, be different or prove a point. It's not an album that aims to do things to your ears that have never been done before. No, it won't tell you it's the best you ever had or ever will have. And last but not least, it won't tell you how much money it's got in the bank and why you're a looser if you don't wear Versace everywhere you go, have 365 tattoos on your forehead alone, keep a pistol tucked in your socks or smoke weed everyday. This is a good album that is just that - and that's what makes it so spectacular. No gimmicks, no emulation or duplication of what has been, no pompous or over-showy sounds and nothing that will make you have to lower the volume so your neighbours don't start questioning your integrity or overall demeanour. It's good, clean and exciting all the way through - one of those albums you'll listen to over and over again without knowing, and never get tired of it.

It's quite rare to come across an album this big, a pop album for that matter in 2019, and that makes it even more spectacular. Its size doesn't in any way water down the quality of the record in any way. It's deeply refreshing and satisfying all the way through. Every other song takes your breath away quicker than the last one brought a new breath of fresh air. It's masterfully written and performed from start to finish with Trevor's signature guitar techniques shinning through all the way.

The self-titled album features the critically acclaimed 2018 singles, "The Airport", "All Over Again" and "Michigan" which all paved the way nicely for the Michigan, US fast-rising pop music sensation's first full length album since he made his debut back in 2014 and with the response it has received so far it is setting the tone for an even more promising career that was previously predicted. - Skunk Radio Live

"'All Over Again' Song Review"

“All Over Again” by Trevor Ohlsen

Trevor’s voice is smooth, the acoustic is lovely, and the lyrics are sweet and charming. This song makes great use of background vocals to elevate and crescendo the overall sound and make something new and unexpected. What I mean by this is that the BGV’s create an illusion of being an instrument in and of themselves. They create ups and downs, ebbs and flows, and with the addition of piano and drums, we have a fully realized, fully gorgeous love song. - EarToTheGroundMusic

"5 Singer-Songwriters We Believe In"

Trevor Ohlsen – “Michigan”
-When I first heard this song, I shared it with friends on social media explaining how his tone and phrasing are outstanding. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. There’s a depth to the songwriting that feels familiar, yet fresh. Some names you might use for comparison are Ed Sheeran or Brett Dennan, but really Ohlsen is carving out his own niche here with a sincerity and bright tenor vocal that is sure to make him many fans. - EarToTheGroundMusic

"4 New Songwriters For 2019"

Trevor Ohlsen – “Crazy in Love”
-I don’t know if the word “lush” is used enough in music descriptions, so I’ll use it to describe the orchestral compositions from Trevor Ohlsen. He expresses his melodic lines with poetic sincerity laid over beautiful backing. It’s clear that he is tapped into some genuine emotions when he writes about being in love. - EarToTheGroundMusic

"New Music 2019"

Trevor Ohlsen – “You’ll always have a piece of me”
-We have covered Ohlsen’s sweet singer songwriter style in the past. We’re glad to cover his work here again as this track brings a pop sensibility that we really enjoy. There’s something inherently optimistic about the mix. Ohlsen’s high tenor vocal shines through and the poetic lyrics will have listeners swooning. It’s beautifully sincere. - EarToTheGroundMusic

Discography

Trevor Ohlsen is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and record producer. He was born and raised in Iron Mountain, MI. In 2014 he attended McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, Minnesota as a guitar performance major before dropping out after only a year to pursue a career in the music industry.

Playing around the Twin Cities, Trevor performed at coffeeshops, bars, and other small local events that would have him. His most memorable performance was with Youtuber Tyler Ward at 7th Street Entry, an “inspiring” night from which Ohlsen says “gave me a little taste of what’s to come in the future”.

Moving back home in 2016 to focus on writing and find a sense of direction, Trevor worked timelessly to perfect his craft as a singer, a songwriter, and performing artist. Signing up for Upper Michigan’s ‘906 Got Talent’, a talent competition of singers, comedians, and other acts, Ohlsen came in 2nd out of 50, leaving him with a $1,500 prize and more opportunities.

With songs such as 'All Over Again' and 'Michigan' hitting home for a lot of people, Ohlsen shows again his ability to move people through music. His self-titled album 'Trevor Ohlsen' released January 7th, 2019 and proves to be his biggest album yet.
