Biography

BIO-
In the days before the time when the oceans drank atlantis, men and women banged rocks and sticks to make a joyful noise. Following in the traditions of the ancients a man and his guitar have expanded upon the original horizons of Roots music. Let me tell of the days of high adventure...

“If you are discovering this burgeoning talent for the first time, you'll find a truly creative songwriter of intellect, sensitivity, and youthful audacity.” Chloe Mills -Latin Teacher

In 1993, at the age of 13, a fire completely wiped out the MacDonald family farmhouse and the farm was subsequently lost. The MacDonalds loaded into a truck bound for a new life in California. To escape the rigors of agriculture, under the scorching California sun, young Trevor began to play, write and compose his first songs on a guitar given to him by a family friend. A legend was born...

“Trevor MacDonald has been a key player in the Ithaca Music scene for the past decade” Jim Catalano- Ithaca Journal

At the age of 16 he returned to the east (a trip chronicled in his solo album Porchlight) and took work with the roots-rock pioneers, Donna the Buffalo. A year later, he made his first recording in Arlington, VA. His eponymous album Evil Genius displayed his diamond-in-the-rough talent. That same year Sunny Weather was formed and spent seven years traveling over 100,000 miles and performing over 500 shows. The road became his home…

“On “Porch Light”, his first solo release, the gravelly alt-country singer-songwriter lets a life time on the road and in the fields give his tunes an honest, rootsy feel that hard to find and harder to fake.” Editor’s picks ABC News

Trevor’s last album “Porch Light” on I-Town Records and Itunes - has received extensive radio play and rave reviews in the Netherlands and Australia. Trevor has also performed with the likes of Old Crow Medicine Show, The Waifs, John Anderson, The Avett Brothers, Tift Merrit, Odetta, Ramblin Jack Elliot, and Rusted Root. His music has been featured on MTV and NPR. With the taste of fame upon his lips…

With the exuberance of Sunny Weather and the dreaminess of Trevor’s solo work The Trevor MacDonald Band brings americana to new heights. Chris Predmore (bass) has been playing with Trevor since 1996 and James Bowman (drums) since 2002 with the welcome addition of Jason Shegogue (guitar) in 2007. The latest chapter in the Trevor MacDonald sound has begun…

“Here we have a demonstration of economy in writing and the result is delightful.” Mark Phillips – Americana UK

Written By: Trevor MacDonald

Well I bought my ticket I paid the cash Just like everybody else
I watched the show I had a blast Hard to explain the way I felt

They say Once you walk out you can never get back
Once you walk out so think about that once you walk out of here

Like the summer I turned 15 man I was ready to roll
I was big I was tuff full of guts man I was so bold
I marched down the steps of my folk’s house my dad he yelled to me
He said ”There’s a big world out there it’s true Don’t forget I was just like you”

Oh x2

I’d had enough of this stupid job so I walked out I quit
I slammed the door in the face of the man Man He was yelling it

They say Once you walk out you can never get back
Once you walk out so think about that once you walk out of here

Oh it’s so true the night was beautiful
The morning came with a hole in my hand Man she was so cool

“Boy didn’t you read the fine print” once you walk out you’ll never get back in

Oh x 2

Once you walk out you can never get back once you walk out of here
Once you walk out you never get back
You’ll never get back here
Get back get back you’ll never get back here

Rain On Th Farm

Written By: Trevor MacDonald

Rain on the farm

We bide for rain calm the devil dust what we carry is what we trust
Piling junk it’s all used up it can weigh down if you’re not old enough

What about on the rain on the farm
Washing over you in my arms

Best take it home take it true this road is hard its built by you
It’s full of bumps and old potholes it’s full of old voices and the souls of ghosts

There’s nothing left here we’ve tilled up all the ground
Carry me home put me out in the rain on the farm

What about the rain on the farm
Washing over you in my arms
You could never be mine I could never be yours somehow we’ll finish out these chores

Wet stone for a shiny blade worn and beat-up since the day was made
There’s nothing left here we have tilled up all the ground

What about the rain on the farm
Washing over you in my arms
You will never be mine I will never be yours somehow we’ll finish out these chores

Porch light

Written By: Trevor MacDonald

Never was much for keeping my cool I always let you down like a fool
Once on the wrong side of the tracks they circle you till you fall on your back
Turn you into a kicking ball like Earthquakes shake your mind all

Leave your light on Leave it on for me
I’m stuck out here tonight and I got no where to be
Oh leave your porch light on Leave it on for me
I’m stuck out in the wilderness of the city
I’m stuck out in the wilderness of the city

Never was much for social time Sit all alone when I drink my wine
Think of old Saturdays you dressed up
Dancing there like a queen until last call ring

Leave your light on Leave it on for me
I’m stuck out here tonight and I got no where to be
Oh leave your porch light on Leave it on for me
I’m stuck out in the wilderness of the city
I’m stuck out in the wilderness of the city
