Trey Gadler and Dead Man's Hand

Drawing on influences from rock roots and combining them with country and Southern sensibilities, Trey Gadler and Dead Man's Hand paint lyrical landscapes of the dark underbelly of Southern life utilizing a three guitar and piano oriented approach. It's a little bit country. It's a little bit rock n roll. It has nothing to do with Donny and Marie. Formed in the fall of 2009 in Houston, Texas, the band is quickly garnering a reputation as a force to be reckoned with through their high octane live shows and catchy yet thought provoking music.

Gadler cut his teeth on rock and roll. Criss crossing the country as a member of the rock bands, Ugly Wanda (Plethorazine Records) and Azrael's Bane, (Chavis Records) has made him no stranger to the trials and tribulations of the music business and the road. Gadler has always had a bit of a schizophrenic musical persona though. While previously best known as a singer of hard rock music, he's been writing songs that didn't fit his past projects for many years. In need of an outlet and deciding it was finally time to do something about it, Trey picked up the phone and called his old friend and like minded musician, Mike Sinay. The two set down to work, polishing some of Trey's older tunes and writing a slew of new ones. With a collection of songs inspired by the likes of The Rolling Stones, Steve Earle, and the Drive By Truckers, Trey and Mike set out to assemble a band.

Enter Dead Man's Hand: The band consists of Gadler on vocals and guitar and a cast of veteran pro musicians; Mike Sinay on guitars, mandolin and dobro, John Adams (Love and War) on guitar, Jeff Clifton (Azrael's Bane) on bass, Doug Winski (Hellfire Revival) on keys and Donny Bragg (Love and War) on drums. The resulting music is a gritty gumbo of Southern fried rock, country and blues performed expertly by a cast of well seasoned professional musicians.

The band played a handful of local warm up shows before immediately hitting the studio to lay down tracks for what would become their debut self titled EP. Working with producer / engineer Steve Bundrick at Bundrick's Houston studio the band knocked out a 5 song sampler of their material covering the bases from gritty rockers, mid tempo country to "show me your lighters" ballads. The EP was self released in mid May 2010.
