Bio

Tribal Jury is a 4 piece group playing original instrumental music influenced by their Balkan heritage, combined with West African, Mediterranean, pop and contemporary jazz elements. The group consists of Danny Susnjar (guitar, guitar synth and fretless guitar), Vince Linardi (fretless bass), Daniel Susnjar (drums), Rick Bermudez (vocals) and Ben Chase (keyboards, vocoder and samples). Using their instruments as tools, the group accesses many diverse and ethnic sounds. Tribal Jury allows for improvisation within structured song frameworks. Their undeniable chemistry, combined with natural interpretation and feel, makes for a strong, unique sound which appeals to a wide audience of all ages and musical preferences.

Drummer Daniel Susnjar has performed/recorded with top calibre musicians world-wide including Hossam Ramzy, Greg Osby, Andy Milne, Jamie Oehlers, Barney McAll, Frank Foster, Terell Stafford, James Morrison and Don Burrows. In 2003 and 2005, he travelled to New York City for performances and intensive tuition from drumming greats Bernard Purdie, Keith Carlock, Clarence Penn, Dom Famularo, John Riley, Ari Hoenig and Billy Ward. Daniel received the ARTSWA young people and the arts Creative Development Fellowship in 2004. Currently on faculty at the WA Conservatorium of Music, Daniel also holds a B.Mus in jazz performance.

Danny Susnjar is a respected guitarist/composer/producer who draws inspiration from a wide spectrum of music (from Joe Zawinul to Jeff Beck). His unique guitar playing and compositional style is demonstrated in Tribal Jury to full effect. As guitarist in the band “Itchy Feet”, Danny won “Best Instrumentalist” at the 1983 WAMI awards and also supported Dire Straits. In 1990, “Itchy Feet” recorded a selection of original material, which was produced by Kim Turner (who has managed Sting and The Police). Danny also owns a professional recording studio and continues to write, produce and record music for Tribal Jury and a variety of professional clients.

Bassist Vince Linardi has been a mainstay on the Australian music scene for over 30 years, having led bands with Danny throughout his musical career. Specialising in the world and fusion genres, he has toured throughout Asia and Australia extensively.

As well as Tribal Jury, keyboardist Ben Chase maintains a busy schedule consisting of recording and producing artists in his own studio, composing music for film scores, leading his original band entitled ‘Leftwood’ and continuing his involvement in musical projects including “Jambotic” and “Astronaut”.
