Songwriting is definitely my focus and I equally love to co-write. I enjoy the entire creative process, from observing life for song ideas, to the writing and re-writing of a song to make certain each word delivers a relevant, unique, and emotionally appealing song.

Biography

Although I played and sang with bands when I was younger, my focus is working hard at writing great songs and getting my songs heard by folks in the industry and ultimately cuts on albums. My influences are Dolly Parton, Allison Krauss, LeAnne Womack, Miranda Lambert, Natalie Grant, Sheryl Crowe, and Martina McBride. I grew up in a musical family and some of my earliest memories are of music, songwriting and jam sessions. I work full time outside of the music industry, but am working toward a full-time songwriting career.

I Want A Cowboy (And I Want A Rope) c. 2005

Written By: Tricia Burnett

Well me and my girlfriend’s went to brunch last Sunday
When one of them said I just must confess
Hey this yacht club life and my brand new Lexus
Just ain’t the life that really fits me best…and she said

I want a cowboy
And I want a rope
I want to do things with those two things I can’t explain
I want a cowboy
And I want a rope
And I want a soft green field, a blanket and a beer

Well when one friend finished the other exclaimed
Girl I can’t believe you stole my fantasy
Hey my hi-tech guy with his berry-thing and laptop
Just ain’t the life I really want to lead…and she said

I want a cowboy
And I want a rope
I want to do things with those two things I can’t explain
I want a cowboy
And I want a rope
And I want a soft green field, a blanket and a beer

Well when they both finished, we drank the last champagne
And the waiter he came over to inquire
I said our champagne’s gone would you bring me a Budweiser
And the look on my friend’s face was quite a sight…and I said

I got a cowboy
Oh and I got some rope
I done things with those two things I can’t explain
I got a cowboy
And I got a rope
And I got a pasture and a quilt and I got some beer

I got a pasture and a quilt and I got some beer

Tell Me Why c. 2005

Written By: Tricia Burnett

I’m never right, you’re never sorry
Here we go again another fight
Same old story same old blame
We don’t listen, things don’t change

Tell me why do we stay here at all
Is it only our love for babies down the hall
Tell me what happened
To the love in our eyes
Did it disappear through the years
Tell me why

I don’t know how we ended up here
I don’t know how we can stay
All I know is God I love you
I know you love me can we find a way

Tell me why do we stay here at all
Is it only our love for babies down the hall
Tell me what happened
To the love in our eyes
Did it disappear through the years
Tell me why

You like to remind me how happy I was
Being your wife, up all night…that was love
Well, hey – now I remember
Ten years ago
Before kids – jobs -- and house with a swimming pool

Tell me why do we stay here at all
Is it only our love for babies down the hall
Tell me what happened
To the love in our eyes
Did it disappear, no…it’s still here
Tell me why
Underneath it all
Our love is strong
Tell me why

Show Me The Way c. 2005

Written By: Tricia Burnett

Every day I find a way to stand tall
Every day I stumble, I fall
Lord I need you in my life each and every day
I know you will show me the way

I pray for faith
I pray for hope
I pray for love
I want to serve you Lord
My road’s not easy
Please walk with me
Oh Lord show me the way

Some days I’m filled with hate
You send your love I run away
Lord I’m on your front line trying hard to find my faith
I know you will show me the way

I pray for faith
I pray for hope
I pray for love
I want to serve you Lord
My road’s not easy
Please walk with me
Oh Lord show me the way
Oh Lord show me the way

Fierce Love c. 2007

Written By: Tricia Burnett

He was a boy full of love from a broken home
Grew up fast running the streets of town
Left home at seventeen, ran away, joined the army
Looking for a family of his own

On a late November day he met my momma
They married - one year to the day
On a hot July day came my brother
Later came my sister – then me

And he had fierce love for his family
You could hear it in his words
You could see it in his life
Home was always there when we needed it
Love was always there in his eyes

When we started to drive he got worried
We called when we got there called when we headed home
Every time we drove out of our driveway
He watched until the tail lights were gone

Cause he had fierce love for his family
You could hear it in his words
You could see it in his life
Home was always there when we needed it
Love was always there in his eyes

On a warm October day he met the angels
We were all there with him when Jesus called him home
Though we were grown with our own families
His love - had only grown more strong

And he gave me a fierce love for my family
I hope they hear it in my words
I hope they see it in my life
Home will always be here when it’s needed
The way love was always there in his eyes
Love was always there in his eyes

Here c. 2005

Written By: Tricia Burnett

What brought me here
So many years
A dream inside
I couldn’t hide
It kept me awake
Kept me so tired
Kept me alive

I’m here I laughed, I sang, I cried
I’m blessed I have this time to fly
Always dreamed I’d find this day
Now I’m standing in this place
I’m here

Some knew I could
Some just stood by
You know who you are
You made me fly
I never looked back
Knew you were there
You’re why I’m here

I’m here I laughed, I sang, I cried
I’m blessed I have this time to fly
Always dreamed I’d find this day
Now I’m standing in this place
I’m here

Hang on, don’t let go
Keep finding your dreams
Look at me

I’m here I laughed, I sang, I cried
I’m blessed I have this time to fly
Always dreamed I’d find this day
Now I’m standing in this place
I always dreamed it’d end this way
Now I’m standing in this place
I’m here
