Bio

Drummer Dave Webster and bassist Tom Webster have been playing music with each other since they were kids. They’re brothers, after all. And together, they formed a wicked rhythm section.

Guitarist Mike Thomas met Dave Webster in the fall of 2001.. but had no idea his life would change when they started talking rock ‘n roll one night at a Detroit Red Wings game.

Mike and The Webster Brothers joined forces in 2003, as members of The Badways, a successful pop-rock band from the Motor City. For five years, they played throughout Michigan and in the Mid-West. They recorded two popular albums. Their songs were played around the world. But in 2008, they were faced with the sudden departure of their lead singer. The guys in the band agreed they wanted to carry on.

The first order of business was to find a new ace lead guitarist. In their minds, the only choice was friend Dan McKernan, the front man for Detroit’s premiere punk-a-billy band, Desolation Angels. Dan had the chops. Plus he was one heck of a good guy. And they knew he could easily juggle two bands.

Musically, the band was tighter than ever. With a unique sound. A unique sound that was begging for a unique voice.

Enter Kate Jablonski.

A singer/songwriter from Royal Oak, Kate was looking to branch out. She had the songs. She had the voice. She just needed a band.

That’s when Craigslist answered the prayers of five people in Metro Detroit.

During that first practice in the fall of 2008, something clicked. Everything came together. Musically and personally. Now all they needed was a name.

Trick9.

A high energy, fresh take on modern rock.

With a little pop, glam, and garage thrown in for good measure.

Raw but polished.

Loud but delicate.

That’s Trick9.
