Bio
Triggerbox is a Shoreditch-based three-piece, made up of childhood friends JQ (vocals/guitar) and Jake (drums/vocals), who first moved to London in 2000, when they won scholarships into The Royal Academy of Music. They soon became disillusioned with this formal approach to music and decided to get back to their roots.
Initially forming as a duo in early 2005, the pair worked on blending guitars and drums with homemade samples, played live on their trademark octapad 'triggerbox', before finding the ideal addition to the line-up in the form of bassist Ben Ellis - AKA Mitts. And then adding Si on keys and guitar.
After winning an award for a collaboration on a Sony Music project, the Triggerbox boys set out to further explore and define their sonic possibilities. The result is an energetic and unique blend of rock, pop and sample-based rhythms, combining strong guitars, unyielding bass lines and driving beats, creating a diverse style that's at the core of the trio's sound.
Described recently as "sample-infused, insanely catchy beat popsters", Triggerbox succeed in creating edgy tunes with addictive melodies, Beatle-esque harmonies and floor-filling rhythms.
Whilst an early demo of 'On/On' has already aired on XFM and regional radio, as well as being play-listed in Europe, forthcoming tracks from their recently completed 'Go Monkey EP' are set to further establish Triggerbox as "one to watch" in 2006.
