Triggers & Slips

Triggers & Slips

 Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
BandCountryRock

Like so much great country music that came before, theirs originates in personal mistakes and stepped on hearts. While the band’s music is a blend that’s not quite country and not quite rock n’ roll, and not quite alt-country either, fans of both types of music have come to love their sound.

Biography

Triggers & Slips revolves around Salt Lake City based singer songwriter Morgan Snow. His voice is pure soul, his songs are rich, and they rattle the truth in your bones. Powerful enough for the listener sitting atop a Western Skyline. But with spellbinding intimacy that translates just as well with a full band backing Snow on a festival stage as it does with him sitting in a cozy living room singing to friends and strangers. He weaves poignant lyrics, with stories that hit you right in the gut, and occasionally catching your funny bone in the process.

“If you’re even a little bit interested in hearing some very satisfying country and Americana music, please check out Triggers & Slips. You won’t regret it.”                       –James Orme SLUG Magazine

-“Satisfyingly sad country songs, about imperfect humans making do in an imperfect world and looking for solace at the bottom of a bottle. That theme is what makes Triggers & Slips’ music so compelling: These are songs that hit you right in the gut.”

–Kolbie Stonehocker Salt Lake City Weekly Magazine

Old Friends

Written By: Triggers & Slips (Morgan Snow)

Old Friends
I went to heaven, so I could see my old friend
He said it’s been a long time, How you been?
So I told him about those days I spent in hell
For my mistakes and wrong turns, and those times I fell
He said life’s about choices it does no good not to feel
If you only live in heaven you’ll never know what’s real

So I went up to that church and grabbed myself a knee
Wanted faith to be waiting at the bottom for me
Cause I know I cannot stay, I know I cannot pray
It was time, it was time, time to move along

I went to hell just so I could see my old friend
He said it’s been a long time, where you been?
So I told him about those days I spent in heaven
For my good deeds and right turns and those times I helped
He said life’s about choices it does no good not to feel
And if you only live in hell you’ll know, you’ll know what’s real

So I went down to that bar and grabbed myself a round
Wanting truth to be waiting at the bottom to be found
Cause I know I cannot stay, I know I walked away
It was time, it was time, time to move along

I came back home, just so I could see where I’d been
And that those mistakes and wrong turns made me who I am
Now I know life’s about choices it does no good not to feel
Because if I only live in Heaven, I’ll never know what’s real

So I went up to that stage, and grabbed myself a song
Wanting all my old friends to gather round and sing along
Because I know I cannot stay, we all must go our way
When it’s time, when it’s time, time to move along, Time to move along.

Aftermath

Come in
Close that door
Brace yourself,
It’s time for war

I know it hurts to think the worst
When it’s all shit and hopes no longer first
And oh these winds they’ve blown away
They’ve blown away this pretty day

Come in
Take rest
Old boys
They’ve been found dead

I don’t think that I’ll ever lose
These things I’ve seen on the 5 o’clock news
Oh these winds they’ve blown away
They’ve blown away this pretty day

No I don’t think that I’ll ever lose
These things I’ve seen on the 5 o’clock news

So come in
Close that door

4 Letters

Written By: Triggers & Slips (Morgan Snow)

4 Letters

Well there’s 4 letters here
That say exactly how I feel
And the more you read them you can tell
That thing’s, they did not end well

But there’s a goal not to ramble
There’s a goal not to say what you see
And if you motioned in kindness you’d know
You’d know what I mean

Well there’s 6 days til Sunday
To repent for those things you have not done
Because you know, rest only makes that strong man weary
Cause he knows it will always stay the same

There’s a goal not to ramble
There’s a goal not to say what you’ve seen
And if you motioned in kindness you’d know
You’d know what I mean

Well the weak always follow the wicked
Cause they don’t, they don’t know where to go
Follow me, yells the prophet’s so proudly
Follow me, and I’ll always show the way

But there’s a goal not to ramble
There’s a goal, not to say what you mean
And if you motioned in kindness you’d know,
You’d know what I’ve seen
But if you motioned in kindness
You’d have something to believe.

Warm Sunshine

Written By: Triggers & Slips (Morgan Snow)

Warm Sunshine

There’s warm sunshine draped across her face
And here lies hope and grace
Tastes just like honey boy you just can’t miss
Who says Heaven don’t exist

When it’s a long shot babe, can’t you see
That you and me, can never go away
But it’s a coming to go, and just staying the same
And it’s all just one big escape

It’s like a gun it gives me peace of mind
But hope just means taking its time
Because there’s grey cloud’s above my finger tips
And who says Hell don’t exist

When it’s a long shot babe, can’t you see
That you and me, can never go away
When it’s a coming to go, and just staying the same
Well it’s all just one big escape

There’s a ghost dancing above his grave
Wishing that he would have stayed
But times they got tough, so he blew a away
All that hope of other days

Now it’s a long shot babe, can’t you see
That you and me, can never go away
But it’s a coming to go, and just staying the same
And it’s all just one big escape
No it’s all just one big mistake

Too Good To Be True

Written By: Triggers & Slips (Morgan Snow)

Too Good to be True

Don’t you hold me in your anger
Because I am already here
And don’t you find me in your thoughts anymore
Because I just don’t care

Coming Down it aint easy
And looking up won’t break my fall
But I know I can tell you
That she, she aint fault

About right now you’re probably thinking
Maybe I should head on home
But I think you have mistaken
Between the meaning of home and alone

Unlike options, you’ve been draining
Looking at me for something to do
All the while knowing clearly
That you were too good to be true

So hold me closely in your anger
Aren’t we already there
But don’t you find me in your thoughts anymore
Because I still don’t care

So I came and I went
Pulled a chair next to you
All the while knowing clearly
That you were too good to be true
That you were too good to be true
