"All Music Guide Review"

Trikuti, from Lido Beach, NY, play hard rock and heavy metal music (heavy metal, that is, more in the way Mountain play it than in the style of Metallica) with some jazz and funk touches, especially when guest saxophonist Jeff Sheloff sits in, as he does on the longest track, "Running Circles." That song is a good example of Trikuti's musical approach, as Scott Seader leads the band, not only with his husky, energetic lead singing of quasi-philosophical lyrics ("I'm just another soul dressed in fragile flesh and bone, running circles while I'm transmigrating on"), but also with his lead guitar playing over the shifting rhythms of drummer David Weintraub and percussionist Malcolm Smith. Trikuti have the cohesive playing and close interplay of a jam band at times, but they remain closer to an early-'70s metal band than anything else. The songs are largely platforms for that interplay, as the drums pound and the guitars play big riffs. Trikuti may succeed in finding a following among jam band fans who lean more toward Led Zeppelin than the Grateful Dead. --by William Ruhlmann - AMG
