"Grayowl Point - "3XG" Review"

I’m not a connoisseur when it comes to electronic music but is it possible for it to make you feel all warm and fuzzy? Whatever the answer, Triple Gangers lo-fi version of electric-pop music will. In their first EP released in December, 3XG, Toronto’s Triple Gangers are creating music that will make you get up and dance all while covering such warming subjects like bunny rabbits and flowers.

For the first song, “Bunnies” think of a PG-13 rated Peter Rabbit book. A little sexual and a little adventurous, if you only listen to one song from the EP, make it be “Bunnies.” The vocal mixture from all three members, Aurora Cowie, Ghislan Aucoin and Ida Maidstone (The O’Darling), in “Bunnies,” but really throughout the short EP, blend together easily and is just another element that Triple Gangers certainly have going for them.

“Shout-out to my crocuses!” What might just be the best line from the EP, where “Flowerbed” falls short instrumentally compared to the other two tracks, certainly makes up for in its lyrics.

What was named #36 on’s Top 40 Songs of 2011, “Saltwater” is almost a mature song compared to the others. Not to be overlooked, Triple Ganger show that even though they make fun music, they can be serious about it too.

Friendly and fun, if you need a little pick-me-up to get you through the winter, or maybe just the week, Triple Gangers’ 3XG will be right up your alley. - Grayowl Point

"NYC's Knox Road Blog - EP Review - January, 17th 2012"

For those of us who had work (or school) off due to Martin Luther King Jr. day, I’ve got a band that will surely provide a jump start to our real week. This Toronto trio knows how to have fun with their music, and, better yet, knows how to show the listener that this is the case.

3XG, their debut EP released free in December, is full of bouncy pop, sheets of synthesizer for a little r&b flavor, and an unwavering youthful jubilance. The colors you see in the photo above are an apt match for the sound, and even the lyrics themselves tell us not to take this whole life thing too seriously. Triple Gangers is a pleasant distraction to an otherwise cold and dreary last few days. - Knox Road

"Triple Gangers – The Cave Friday, September 30th, 2011"

Blending lo-fi synth-pop with sharp melodic instincts laced with sprawling electronic beats, Triple Gangers relies on strong songwriting and talent to make their mark. Front and centre is Ghislain Aucoin on electronic keyboards slinking through a hook-filled electro-collage accented by the sugary harmonies of vocalists Aurora Cowie and Ida Maidstone. Performing sweetly dance-oriented songs like “Road Rash”, “Ice Cream Truck” and a cover of “Naïve Melody” by Talking Heads, Triple Gangers’ use of minimalism while creating impressively colourful music makes them a band to watch - Lonely Vagabond

3XG (EP) - Triple Gangers
Released - December, 15 2011

3 best friends and a yamaha PSR48 is the wild combination forming Triple Gangers. The three met when they moved to Toronto from their respective coastal homes. Writing songs up in an attic bedroom and around a kitchen table led to their first show at a local dive bar followed by a kitchen party in the winter of 2010. Since then they have been blending the most pleasurable elements of pop music and creating a sound which is both imaginative and thought provoking yet accessible to all. Their explosive live performance and what ``Grey Owl Music Blog`` describes as ``soulful electro`` has been delighting the toronto dance, indie pop, electronic scene and catching the attention of artists Maylee Todd, Digits (silent shout), and Tops (Arbutus Records) to name a few.

Triple Gangers debut EP, "3XG"- Produced by Mike Olsen (Hidden Cameras, Spiral Beach, Arcade Fire) was featured on electro-blog Silent Shout's Best of 2011 list for their song "Saltwater". Their unique sound and undeniably fun performance style continues to spread thorughout Canada and the U.S. and has landed the trio a spot playing Sled Island music festival and Brooklyn's Northside Festival this June. Building on the sucess of their EP, Triple Gangers are currently in the studio with Mike Olsen recording their debut LP. Check the show page for upcoming events, or if your lucky you can find them playing late into the night at a local Toronto party.
