"Triptides."

Completely psyched by this mellow piece of straight-up Californian surf pop perfection, a song that makes you feel like it’s 1969 again. Triptides is a thrilling young trio from Bloomington, Indiana, and according to themselves they play “the best damn landlocked surf music you’ve ever heard”, and god I’m sure they’re absolutely right on this one. Their debuting self-titled EP has been put up to their bandcamp today, so head over and grab the whole thing for free. All six songs are absolutely worth checking out. - No Fear Of Pop

"Sun Pavilion"

"Triptides prove themselves capable of avoiding all the beach-pop cliches in the book, and make no mistake there are tons of traps to helplessly fall into. ‘Sun Pavilion’ isn’t a relentlessly escapism-peddling album; it carefully balances lo-fi production with a strong, dynamic songwriting approach." - DIY Mag

"I’ve read plenty about The Allah-Las being the new US band to watch for retro ‘60s cool but these beat them hands down as not only do they have the sound but they have the songs as well. An absolute gem of record. 9/10." - Norman Records - DIY Mag, Norman Records

"Predictions"

"Indiana’s Triptides display a sound that harks back to a place amidst the British invasion of the 60s and the LSD-nourished summers of love, and it’s a delight to hear." - Crack Magazine

"The Indiana trio’s latest release is a complete sea change for a band that spent the last couple of years crafting a sturdy blend of surf rock and sun soaked psychedelica. Pouring with fuzzy tones and echoing vocals, “Prediction” hits much harder than anything the band has created beforehand." - I Found Music

"They're a ridiculously accomplished outfit with a crisp, energetic production and a restrained use of psychedelic tropes. The songwriting is of a genuinely supreme quality so many (more successful) acts just don't possess. Dreamy vocals flow over chiming mercurial guitar lines; their tight drums sound free and heavenly and as such their songs often blossom into gaseous clouds of hazy euphoria. They can even rock out on a dime too. Sublime psychedelic 60s dream-pop with true warmth and vibrancy. Too damn good to be a mere pastiche." - Norman Records

"This perfectly produced album is the follow up to the band’s debut ‘Sun Pavilion’ and is a much grander affair. The psychedelic sound is still there but the album seems more together than its predecessor. While the genre seems to be fairly popular at the moment (see Temples, Tame Impala etc.) the band do seem to have stamped their own mark on it. Wistful vocals and quite glorious guitars provide escapism from the monotony and grey of pollution filled cities." - Gig Soup (UK) -

"Colors EP"

"The quick six-song set clocks in at barely 25 minutes, but still manages to send you for a pleasant ride through its jangly, fuzzy tones and a soft, reverb approach to the vocals. It’s a style we’ve heard before, the slower track “Destiny” seems like it could have easily been sneaked onto the soundtrack for The Virgin Suicides, nonetheless, the music still remains fresh and intoxicating." - Hipster Spinster

" 'Colors' shows Triptides greatest strength: creating tracks that allow the listener to lose themselves within the music completely, to be fully submerged in the tripped-out ambient bliss of their music." - Violent Success -

"Azur"

Short, sharp and irresistable, there's plenty within these songs to keep vintage pop addicts, and scenesters alike happy. The always reliable team at Norman Records sum it up perfectly: "an utterly perfect amalgam of ‘60s beat pop (The Hollies!) with those moments when Deerhunter decide they are going to be a pop combo." - The Active Listener

Bio

Triptides began as a bedroom project, with Glenn Brigman (guitar/vocals) and Josh Menashe (guitar/vocals) swapping ideas. Since then the band has grown, shifted and evolved, taking on a life of its own in the process.

The first two EP's (Triptides, Tropical Dreams) as well as their first full-length (Psychic Summer) were fundamental in allowing the band to understand home recording techniques while creating lush beach-pop psychedelia.

2012's Sun Pavilion LP saw Menashe and Brigman honing their craft as songwriters and experimenting more with production and 8-track tape machines.

2013's Predictions though, is much more confident. Seeming to completely grasp how to use the studio as an instrument, Triptides slice together garage-punk, elements of psych and 60s West Coast pop.

Yet this isn't some retro experiment. 'Predictions' is imbued with a real sense of character, with Triptides able to impact their own identity onto their influences.

In 2014 the band did extensive touring of the United States and were invited to play "Rock In Rio" in Lisbon, Portugal sharing the bill with The Rolling Stones, Queens of the Stone Age, and others.

In 2015 the band relocated to Los Angeles where they picked up Bryant Fox (bass) and Brian Dove (drums). That same year they released their 4th LP Azur on Paris based label Requiem Pour Un Twister. The album shows another side of the band where ideas are drawn from 80's groups such as the Cleaners From Venus and The Wake in addition to their normal 60's psychedelic influences.

In the Fall of 2016, Triptides joined British psychedelic group Temples on the West Coast leg of their US tour.

Their new record Afterglow will be dropping early next year on Requiem Pour Un Twister.
