"Robb and Sexsmith a match made in heaven"

"Many musicians favour the studio over the stage but not Ms. Robb. Live and in person is where she can be found, not filed in the racks of record bins. To see and hear her is to understand the attraction. It's working, too. This face time with her audience and peers has resulted in a variety of high-profile gigs. She has opened for the Cowboy Junkies and recently played with Kyp Harness. She is set to open for Ron Sexsmith when he plays Feb. 14 in Cobourg. It is her gorgeous voice and folk-inflected style that is at the heart of her talents. She would give Feist a run for the money..."

"Trish Robb at Shelter Valley 2010"

"Trish won the hearts of the Shelter Valley audience with her genuine approach. Her unaffected sound is refreshing, with songs as subtle as they are stylish, and as sweet as they are frank."

Bio

Born in small-town New Brunswick; raised in almost-suburban Bowmanville, Ontario; attended film school in Montreal; now a singer-songwriter firmly installed in the centre of Toronto's roots-folk-alt-country scene: it may well be said that Trish Robb is a natural fit on the large and varied tree of Canadian singer-songwriters.

However, the oft-used term “singer-songwriter” belies the depth of strengths this artist brings to her craft – she is also a captivating performer, a confident guitarist, a focused bandleader, and a music educator. It can be said with confidence that Trish Robb is a talent to be watched as 2013 unfolds.

Poised to build on successes that include opening for Ron Sexsmith, Peter Elkas, The Cowboy Junkies, and Stephen Fearing, with tracks from her debut album played on CBC Radio, and a highly successful Western Canada tour spanning August and September of 2012, Trish will be going into the studio early 2013 to follow up her strong self-titled debut album with a recording of all-new material.

As a songwriter, Trish brings a trio of valuable skills to her creations: a sense of great melody; a familiarity with musical structure; and a gift with words. As a singer, her music capitalizes on the colours and intonations of a well-crafted vocal ability, something that she maintains in live performance – refreshing!

Her performance experience is extensive: hundreds of live shows include her involvement in the music scene of the Durham Region where she found her footing as an artist; being a part of Toronto's music orbit and regularly on the bill at hot spots like the Dakota Tavern, the Horseshoe, and many others; performances at clubs and venues from her home in southern Ontario, to Montreal and all the way across to Dawson City, Yukon. She has also appeared at events such as the Shelter Valley Folk Fest, CAMfest, Cobourg's Harvest Festival, and the City Of Oshawa's Canada Day Festival. Trish is also a private vocal and guitar instructor and has had continual involvement working with youth looking for musical inspiration, direction, and a mentor, through the School Alliance of Student Songwriters (SASS) Canada.

She is known as an entertaining performer who can deliver a show with a range of sentiments: at times hilarious, other times introspective, boldness contrasting with vulnerable honesty, and intensity followed by moments of light-heartedness. Whatever the expression, audiences find themselves captive and discover the magnetism of her sense of familiarity.

Trish Robb – a Canadian artist in the tradition of songwriters such as Gordon Lightfoot and Joni Mitchell, while capturing the 21 st Century's evolution in roots music with a fusion of country, rock, blues, pop and other influences – a magnificent talent on the cusp of making her mark.
