Bio

Tristessa was formed in January 2005 when Jude Hernandez began recording songs for his upcoming full-length album “Listen To Echoes.” Working and performing with some of the top musicians in Los Angeles, the songs were pushed to new levels of artistic quality. Influenced and compared to the melodic music of the alternative rock scene; Tristessa's music and lyrics pulls the listener in with emotional songs that awake the heart.

Jude began working and performing with drummer Rueben Bolieu soon after they met in late 2004. Jude gave Rueben home demos of his songs and Rueben immediately wanted to be part of them. After playing shows at the Joint and the M Bar in Los Angeles, Jude and Reuben entered Red Door Music Labs to begin the recording process. Also included in the Red Door Music Labs recording sessions was long time childhood friend, Bryan “B.T.” Tanori (The Flow of Opinion), who played lead guitar on three tracks of the album, and Mark Murray, who played bass on one song.

Tristessa continued performing live, victorious in the Battle of the Bands competition for Cal Poly Pomona, but knowing it is best to have a product for their fans, they decided to focus on the album until the recording was complete. Tristessa would continue and complete the recording sessions at The Rock Studio in West Hills with recording engineer Lior Goldenberg. Lior, who has worked with many of the top bands and musicians in the world, heard the potential and promise of the material and agreed to work with Jude. They soon took the songs to new and unforeseen heights, producing 11 standout.

Handling bass duties for the album were Micheal Sattin, of the band Chromosome Tea, and Christian Hernandez, of One Side Zero fame. Both being very respectable bass players, each brought their creativity and originality to their individual tracks adding an undeniable rhythm section.

Jude took the responsibility for the rhythm and lead guitars, vocals, and keyboards working endlessly to lay down the tracks perfectly. In September 2006 production was completed for “Listen To Echoes,” ending a long recording process for all musicians involved. Post-production was completed in the middle of January 2007, with mixing duties handled by Lior, and the mastering job taken care of by Brad Vance at Red Mastering.

“I am very proud of what we accomplished. It was a long process, but we had a lot of support and I learned a ton. I know that our fans will be excited to hear the emotion we captured in the songs, there may even be a few surprises as well. I cannot wait to get back to performing, it is going to be a blast,” said Jude.
