Biography

The resulting sound mixes the classic, jazzistic, and universal flavor of the piano and the contrabass, with the ancestral and very Colombian tiple, format that reinforces even more the essence of the music interpreted, of academic way, and the modern, but with great flavor as Colombianiship.
Created since 1986 by Ricardo Pedraza Medina at the Tiple (typic Colombian cordophone), Mauricio Acosta Avellaneda at the Contrabass, and Germán Dario Pérez Salazar at the piano, composition, arrangements, and musical direction.
The name Nueva Colombia Trio speaks of what from its beginnings his director pretended: A new music for Colombia, a new sound; an actualized look to the traditional rhythms of the Andean region, sustained with coherent compositions that uses a harmonio rhythmic language and renewer melodic one, proposal that has been accepted, respected and taken into account as a pattern to be followed by other musicians and several assembles, which has converted the Nueva Colombia Trio and its director in unforgettable referents of the musical Colombian history.

Considered by experts as a group of the highest artistic level. We find in ¡t the excellence, the coupling, the interpretative sensibility, good taste m the arrangements and mastery in the execution of each instrument.
Its director Germán Dario Pérez S., is the composer most awarded in the history of the Festivals of Colombian Music in the Andean region.
In its many years of trajectory there are innumerable concerts it has offered in the halls, auditoriums and most important theaters in Colombia, as well as journeys through different countries.

Germán Dario Pérez Salazar (Piano, arrangements, composition, musical direction)
Born in Bogotá Colombia. Since very early he evidencied his Absolute Ear. He started Piano studies at 4 years old, with particular teachers. Then he did studies with outstanding pianists, in the Music Conservatoire of the National University of Colombia. When he was 10 years old he did his firsts compositions. He started to participate in national concourses of composition, when he was 14 years old, beinf finalist. In the year 1985 when he was 16 years old he obtained his first award in the National Composition Concourse Jorge Villamil Cordovez. From there on the list of awards of compositions is increased year over year. He is the composer of instrumental Colombian music of the Andean region the most awarded in all the festival of this kind.
When he was 17 years old he had started to explore new sounds, and to incorporate to the traditional music more elaborated harmonies. His creativity brought him to the search of new music vocabulary, with a great rhythmic richness, timbric and harmonio, giving as a result an own style that opened the way towards new perspectives in the Colombian Andean music. His early experiments performed about the base of a solid knowledge of the Colombian folklore, and with a conviction and compromise with his goals and his music requests, gave print and they became as point of departure and obliged reference for that today is called New Colombian Music. He is one of the initiators of the main renewal this music has had in the last 25 years time. His works, many of them awarded, are interpreted continuously by solists and groups both in Colombia as abroad. He also is arrangist of several national artists.
